I doubt it, since that game is pretty common and not in terribly high demand.

Oh, another thing that drops the value... when a game achieves Greatest Hits status. I saw it happen once, when prices dropped on Tales of Symphonia when it became a Player's Choice title (and thus on sale for $29 here) - I think the used copies were selling for $35-40 and that had to go, and of course the vicious cycle continues.

Sky: True, but I know for a fact that NCAA games are HARD to come by in Canada. I rarely see them in stores if ever, so I wouldn't be surprised if you could get a good trade-in value for them regardless.

And at least Disgaea has a kickass theme song.

I hate strategy RPGs, because I suck at them. XD At least I can admit it. See, I always have one character live and then everyone else dies so they're all severely underleveled and it pisses me off like woah. That's what happened again with Disgaea and I wanted to buy a REAL (!) RPG so I sold it so I could get another one. XD

But even the $20's not that bad because at least it seems like GS recognizes the rarity of Disgaea and the fact that it's a game a lot of people are looking for. Granted, when it comes to games like that you can make double (EASILY) by selling to a friend or on eBay, but it's not really that much of a shaft.

$30 bucks is a huge difference. XD But yeah, in the $20s is the most they'll ever pay for a game..

There's only one time that the value on sports games goes up, and even then it's only on ebay, as the game stores will still shaft you. One of my friends told me about his experience with this.

NCAA basketball games. They tend to come out towards the beginning of the season, and right around tourney time (as in, now) a lot of college guys are willing to pay a LOT of money for them.

And the reason sports games are the worst in terms of value is because new versions come out EVERY year, and they also tend to take a price drop around 6 months after release to begin with. Within the next month I'll bet that Future Shop/Best Buy here will have a sale with 2006 EA Sports games for $19.99 each. With sports games, you can get some value for them a few months after purchase. The value's going to dip when the initial demand dies down (6 months?) and it's going to crash when the new version of the game comes out. For example, I can get Madden 2005 for $10-15 here if I wanted it, and by this time next year Madden 2006 will be on sale for that price as well. So if a store's only going to make a few bucks (IF that) off the sale, they're certainly not going to offer you top dollar.

*end rant*

Holy crap, yeah. game stores rip you off. I also worked at Gamestop...in two different states. XD

I had Disgaea and I really hate that game. Gamestop would give me $20 or so, depending on the one I went to, demand for it, yadda yadda. Ebay ? $57

Is the legend of dragoon a greatest hits copy or not? I had it, but my copy got stolen a looong time ago. If it's not greatest hits, I'd be potentially interested in buying it, depending on how much you'd want.

Did you even bother to ask what games they were before-hand? I should smack you right now just on the basis of what you have listed.

Alright, off the top of my head...
Legend of Dragoon (PS1)
GTA3 (PS2)
Jak & Daxter (PS2)
NBA 2K3 (PS2)
Alone in the Dark: THe New Nightmare (PS2)
Ford Racing 2 (PS2)
Unlimiting Saga (PS1)

That's all I can think off since I'm at school
If you want one, tell me. I'm now ready to sell them, since I've realized I was too foolish to do this deal in the first place

That's a really wise plan!

Sucks that you got ripped off though. If it was intentional, I'd be furious. I can remember stuff like that happening to friends back in the days of mass pokemon card frenzy.

Hope you can get something out of the games though.

Yeah, actually, if you do keep the games, list the ones you don't want, and maybe you'll get some offers from people on the boards...no ebay fees that way.

Like Anya said, never trade in games at game stores. We rip you off. That's how we make almost half of our revenue.

Back when I worked at GameStop (at home), the third key would buy games he wanted off of people for more than GameStop would give them, because they were still ridiculously cheaper than what we would have sold them for.

Its ok Clockwork ( even though you called me a retard ). I see now that you didn't trade the games in.

Sell them on ebay, you'll make MUCH more money.

No, matt; I still have the games, you retard. I thought I said that; if not, then sorry. I just wanted to get them appraised there.

If he's gonna be a greedy little shit, get your money back from him and tell him to piss off. He's not your friend if he's audacious enough to do that.

mattp's right returning games can get you very little money but if you go on Ebay for it........Well I can pretty much garantee that if he did it he could of bought 2 DS's. So you'll be making a lot more money in the long run anyway expecally if they're rare games. Also you shouldn't hold much against your friend he probably had no idea that you would just try to sell the games to Gamestop.

You're stupid! You actually sold games to Gamestop?

NO

Jesus

NEVER do that, in ANY industry! ALWAYS sell stuff on ebay.

You and him agreed to the trade. His estimation of their worth surely didn't take into account you practically throwing the games away.

If you go back on it now, you're a horrible friend and a bad person.

Just because you screwed up doesn't mean you get to screw your friend over.
