Alright, I'll try that thanks.
edit- I tried that, and I didn't get the message but after I imported the .sps it the save game wasn't there. |

For that, take a hex editor, go into the save, change "FF1&2DAWNOFSBFFE" to "FF1&2DAWNOFSBFFP"... but don't expect it to work on every game.
Changing the extension won't help anything. |

So just rename the file from "filename.sps" to "filename.xps"? |

Don't forget that .XPS files work in VBA as well, rename them. Gamefaqs has both so this hint is useful. Be sure to backup your current .SAV file, as importing a snapshot will overwrite it. Opening an emulator, you tried to use a US "FF1&2DAWNOFSBFFE" save on Euro's "FF1&2DAWNOFSBFFP" rom. File->ROM Header is how I can tell.
There's no full GBA regional compatibility (or rarity of carts for that matter) chart yet. I've discovered some things, but it's off topic for this thread. |

Alright I tried that but it didn't work. I got the message "Cannot import the snap shot for FF1&2DAWNOFSBFFE current game is FF1&2DAWNOFSBFFP" I don't really understand the difference. |

VBA should take SPS files - File->Import->Gameshark Snapshot. If there isn't that feature in your version, you should seriously consider updating (1.6.1 or 1.7.2). |

VBA, I'm not sure which version. I figured thered be some program that I could usr to convert file types or something. |

An SPS is basically a 'sav' file with a header tacked on. Try removing the header using a hex editor (I don't think SPS headers have a fixed size, so the easiest way to tell where it finishes is probably to take a look at a normal 'sav' file generated by the game, and seeing if there's some easily recognizable 'marker data' that you can use).
edit: jbtw, which emulator are you using? |

I downloaded a few .sps files from gamefaqs and my emulator won't load them. My emulator saves them as .sav |

IIRC, .sps and .xps are an identical format used for Gameshark/Action Replay GBA saves. You can use them to say, continue your carts' progress in an emulator or the other way. Just rename the file to whichever of these two extentions a program will accept. Visual Boy Advance uses .sps in it's naming. An Action Replay with built-in USB calls them .xps. They're fully compatible from my testing. |

What is an .sps file? What emu makes it? Or where did you get it from? |

How do I convert a .sps file to a .sav file? |
