Allow list may be the only option, but I tend to be rather nice about letting new people contact me, since they're usually not that bad, and it's particularly important when one of my friends gets a new sn that I be able to stay in contact easily.
The problem with just blocking is that there tends to be an inverse relationship between intelligence and number of screen names, in many cases. |

I've rarely had such a problem with AIM, though lately one sn in particular has been sending me (constantly) trojan links and in a rather obvious manner ("she" said something along the lines of "look at my pics!" and the link very obviously ended in .exe)...
MSN, however, I get a lot of people who apparently think I'm someone else, someone who's about 10 years younger than I am, and whose friends are idiots. He must be an idiot too if he can't give them the right email address. |

People who add you to their contact/buddy list and then asks who the heck you are? I hate when that happens.
A few months ago, there was this girl who added me to her contact list and asked who I was. These questions, together with the n00b expressions she used made me belive that it was a bot. I asked some simple questions like "what's 1+1", "what's 5*3", etc. She was far from sure about the answer to 5*3, so I assumed that she was just a very stupid n00b. She kept on asking me who I was and such. I pointed out that she added me to her contact list, so she SHOULD know who I was. However, she didn't understand such logic. Anyway, after a few weeks, it turned out that she belived I was her boyfriend, and that he appearently gave me my MSN address and said that it was his. As far as I could tell, she didn't understand any of the tons of insults I gave her before I finally blocked her. |
