I despise smoking to pretty much the largest extent that someone can, without actually telling anyone to stop it. Whenever I see topics like this, I always think of every possible downside of it. Bad smell, bad teeth, bad lungs, bad heart, earlier body-decay, hindered ability to smell or taste, always lacking funds, loss of popularity (from GOOD people, that is), hugher possibility of tumors and cancer, clothes smell, clothes can get burnt, skin can get burnt, skin/clothes can become covered in ash, you can accidentally start a forest fire, then get beaten up by bears who later inhabit your house and have non-stop crazy parties which piss off the neighbours, who're angry, yet too kind to tell you to turn off the loud music, and lots of other downsides.

My nose is VERY good at detecting cigarette smoke, while not quite being as trained at detecting cigar smoke. I can tell when someone's been smoking in a car, even if they're not currently doing so. Whenever I smell people smoking, I get away from them as fast as I can. I hold my breath, cover my mouth/nose, get away, then exhale as much as I possibly can.

The reason I don't just walk up to people and say, "Hey! Quit smoking you freaking idiot!" is because I'm afraid of what they'll do to me. They could take their lit cigarette and crunch it into my skin until it goes out, burning me badly, they could blow large puffs of smoke heavily in my direction, they could use my clothes as an ashtray, or other possible things.

I'm not saying that all smokers are bad people, it's just that they're people that aren't determined enough, don't care about their help, and/or are too stressed to concentrate on their own personal health. Though, from what I've seen, 75-90% of young (20-) smokers ARE bad people, but that probably relates to how they're doing it illegally, thus have a higher chance of doing other stuff illegally, too, making them generally bad.

I absolutely detest smoking. Cigarette smoke, is in fact, one of my migraine triggers.

I had to live with a pair of chainsmokers for a few years and oh my god, my throat and nose and everything just hurt so badly pretty much all the time.

Not to mention how cigarette smoke gets into things and CLINGS to them. If only people that smoke KNEW how badly their clothing, etc smelled..

I had to wash my clothes at least twice when I moved in with my boyfriend, to get the cigarette smell out of them. I haven't gotten my stuffed animals/plushies yet, but I'm really worried about those, since I can't wash them...so they are probably ruined.

Not to mention it got into the wig fibers of my very expensive Asian ball joint doll, and I had to wash that thing at least 10 times. Eww.

Smoking is the dumbest thing to ever do. It eats up money, it harms you, it harms other people, and it makes everything else stink. Gross.

And I really hate it when people act like "it's my body, I'll do what I want with it. I'll smoke if I please!" because if that was the excuse with alcohol or some other shit, that'd be dandy. But smoking does affect other people.

I never have cravings. Never. I must have smoked a total of two packs within about 2 years. Never had one craving for one cigarette *ever*. If I smoke, it's totally voluntary. Like, "I'm bored. I guess I'll smoke up."
I dunno; The reason why I do smoke is not because of cravings; it's because it's my life. Sort of like almost a rebellious act against my nazi-parents, I guess.
Snifit: People like you are the reason why people like me need medication. You kinda remind me of the whacko born-again Christians in my class who tell me I'm a bad person and I'm going to hell because of my religion. No one's a bad person for smoking, just like I'm not a bad person for being a neo-pagan. Calm down there, lightning

I'm a little worried. Saturday, I smoked like half a cigarette. Then Sunday night I had a physical craving for a smoke. This is odd, because I smoke a cigarette maybe once a month or so. It was however getting ready to thunderstorm, which may have caused it, because I almost always smoke in the rain. I didn't have any cravongs today, though.

I'm the only person at my work that doesn't smoke, but it doesn't surprise me.

I don't:
- Grown up with parents who do all the time. I have never enjoyed the smell of it.
- I've seen how much money my mom dishes out for it ... a complete waste of money.

The major point, it's a waste of money.

I couldn't tell you how many co-workers have said the exact phrases:
"Yeah don't ever start"
"Yeah I'm trying to quit" (while they pull out a cigerratte).

I just personally think there's better things to do. That's me.

Naivety won't get you far in this world. But you'll be fearless.

In other words, DON'T SMOKE. Or do drugs. Or get married. Or get married and do drugs, or vice versa. And most importantly, don't register to vote. It means jury duty.

I got a little something to say to all of those non-smokers out there who prance around with their nazi attitudes towards those who CHOOSE to commit the act of slow motion suicide.

Non....Smokers....Die....EVERY DAY

But seriously. It's a choice that we smokers are commited to, and we're taking the responsibility, wether we die from it or not. If you don't smoke. then hell, awesome... Good for you. But don't be spreading propaganda or coughing in my face about how it's bad for the environment WHILE I'm smoking. That annoys the piss outta me. If you do that, then you'd might as well dance a jig in front of handicapped people in wheelchairs, you soulless/tactless !@#*@#($WFUFJ!@(#UE!~.

I'm not bitter.

I'm.. really not big on smoking. I can't stand being around people while they're smoking.. it makes me sick. I've always known I'd never try smoking a cigarette or cigar, ever. My dad has smoked since before I was born.. he used to chain smoke ALL the time. He's sort of cut down on the number now, but he's switched to ..Colt thin cigars, or whatever. Ick. Watching him deteriorate, in comparison to my uncles (his brothers) who don't smoke, is scary. My boyfriend's dad just died of cancer recently; it started in the lungs, and when the doctors finally thought he was over it, they found out the cancer had spread to other parts of his body. He kept smoking right up until he died.

I realize a lot of people can smoke their whole lives and be fine, but having those examples right there, sort of.. in my face, makes it really easy for me to be really upset when I find out someone I know has started smoking. I try not to be judgemental, or overbearing about it towards them, but.. it's kind of hard sometimes. Thankfully I haven't had any of my really close friends start, because I'm not sure how I'd deal with that. =/

I can never understand why people think smoking's sexy, or looks sexy, or whatever (no offense to those who DO find it sexy, I just.. can't). It's like.. watching someone comit suicide, a bit at a time. *shuddertwitch*

Ontario has started making it illegal to smoke in public areas like restaurants and whatnot. I know that pissed a lot of people off, but it makes eating SO much easier for people who don't smoke. Trying to eat while you're trying not to gag is.. kind of difficult. Since I'm in NY now, I'm still not really sure what the laws are on smoking, but I haven't seen a lot of people smoking inside. Just.. right outside the doors, which is.. ew. But.. I guess they have to smoke somewhere? I dunno. It's still annoying, especially when you see those signs saying "NO SMOKING IN THIS AREA", etc. >>

..Okay, I'll.. stop rambling now. ?

My parents smoke and I hate it.
Both my grandmothers died in the last few years and they smoked for most of their lives untill they were forced by doctors to quit.
The grandmother on my fathers side spent the last years of her life on a respirator and it wasnt a pretty way to go.

I tried to get my parents to stop for years but they wont listen.
I had to put up with it almost constantly for 18 years but I finally moved out the first chance I got a couple months ago and have been living very happily since

People can smoke if they want as long as they dont do it in my car, my apartment, or my face.

One thing that I've found is that certain materials don't absorb smoke nearly as much. For example, leather. If I wear my jacket in bars, I don't tend to bring nearly enough 'smoke' smell back as if I don't.

I hate how people stand smoking right outside the exit of the bar. You have to breathe through that shit whenever you exit the bar. Never heard about going a slight distance away.

But it's better to have it that way, then to have everyone smoking like hell inside the actual bar. (Smoking has been banned inside bars in Norway.)

I can't stand smoke. I cough up a lung even if I'm in a room with someone who's smoking; I don't want to find out how much actually smoking would hurt me.
