I like it. As others mentioned, it's nice and simplistic, and easy on the eyes. It isn't the best layout, but it is far from the worst. Nice work. |

Heh. Thanks for being realistic. I knew it sucked, actually.
To be fair, my background doesn't look like shit...it looks like rolling hills made OF shit. So yeah, just thought I'd point that out. Aanyway, my strategy for using "photoshop" effectively is to randomly apply filters until I think it looks nifty. Yeah, it's not sophisticated, and the results are usually (read: always) less than stellar, but I'm much too lazy to put any effort into it. So you'll have to live with this. |

I wouldn't say it's "clean", the background literally looks like crap. I don't exactly know what it is but it appears brown and earthy. Could be dirt?
To me, it's no where near worthy of a "wow!" rating, you got a lot of work to do buddy. Check out some of these sites and you'll get a taste of what REAL graphics look like. http://www.greycobra.com/forums/ http://forums.biorust.com/ http://www.n-sane.net http://www.myg0t.com/ Pay attention to the brushing used, the pixel borders, gradiations, the slight colors, the works. If you can do something remotely similar to your background, then yes, I'll give you a thumbs up. I don't care if you have to pirate photoshop, just get it and learn how to use it. Please. Before you get pissed at me, call this post a favor. I just gave you a roadmap because a harsh opinion is better than a false hope. I'm telling you you can do better. |

I see no background images in your profile, and in here I only see the background-background one. =\
From what I can see, it's a nice layout. 
Edit: Er.. I do see the table background image, but it's really dark. |

There, percentage'd. Strangely, my background still doesn't work in the preview in my profile. Hm.
Oh, and the background background is just the first thing I found when I searched for "marble" in google, with about 15 minutes of Corel Photopaint screw-withage. ...actually, which backgrounds are showing up for you guys? There should be two, one in the background background that looks kinda reddish, and one in the table itself that looks black and kinda swirly. The background background one seems to be screwing up some for me, so that's why I'm wondering. |

Hmm. Better than I was expecting, based on what you said earlier.
At any rate, replace that pixel width with a percentage width. Would solve the problem. |

It's a nice simple layout, but I think you should remove the fixed width -- on 800x600, it fills the entire page and smashes the sidebar.
Also, consider adding some more variation to it; a background image to the whole post area of similar design would be good |

A very simplistic (read: shoddy) layout I threw together in about 15 minutes. It sucks, sure, but I have no skills whatsoever, so I faked it. Mostly, I'm just posting this to see how it looks with, you know. Other posts.
