Good to see your slump has been cured. When that happens to me, I usually try something different. Maybe a challenge, or a speed run of a game. Or maybe boot up a Grand Theft Auto game and raise hell until I get bored. And if all else fails, I tend to stop playing for a while. |

A lot of the classic bundles like Adamant mentioned (Namco, Taito (YES), Capcom, etc.) are fantastic since you get a bunch of games for one low price, and in most cases the games are flawlessly emulated or at least control well. Then you have the option of several timekillers whenever you're bored. |

Perhaps the best strategy I've found seems a bit counter-intuitive. I pop in an old favorite, some game that will always hold a special place in my gamer's heart, and that I've probably beaten several times over, and have another go-through. Once you do that you'll be inspired to try something different and new in the hopes that it too could be quirky in a good way and do what you want.
The risk is that sometimes all you want at that point is a clone of sorts...and I have yet to find something that captures the experience of some of my favorites. |

Well I think I've been cured for the time being. I found an old save of FF9 on my memory card which I hadn't beaten yet and I jsut beat it. And my friend gave back my FF X-2 game and I have yet to beat it and now I'm playing that. So for right now I'm on an RPG kick. |

Get Activision Anthology. While I haven't tried the PS2 version, I do own the GBA game (it's really more suited as a handheld), and would go as far as to say it's the best game the system offers. A collection of 30+ Atari 2600 titles from a time when gameplay was what really counted in a game, this is a game you seriously can never get bored of. Activision produced some of the system's best games (though not everything they offer in this collection is gold; Laser Blast has to be the worst video game I've ever played, Kaboom is unplayable without a paddle controller, Activision Decathlon doesn't work very well without the Track & Field controller, and the unreleased games they included were unreleased for a reason). Still, with titles like Frostbite, Pitfall, River Raid, Stampede, Enduro, Beamrider and many more, this is a definite purchase. |

Try some SNES games SMW, Secret Of Mana, FF3, Mario Kart, Lufia 2. I esp. reccomend Lufia 2. |

Originally posted by Celice Yea, that's a good idea. I have a more serious condition, I think. Back in the day, I was really excited about rpgs and stuff and played them all the time. But after I beat FF7, (which was in 1998) I couldn't play another rpg all the way through again. I got stuck in Xenogears(twice! never even got to the second disc or past shevat for that matter), my memory was corrupted in FF8, forgot what happened with Grandia, and I just stopped playing the rest in between. I've been trying to get myself back into turn based rpgs at least enough to beat them, but I just can't seem to do it. (The last one I beat was Chrono Cross) |

Well, it happens that I get bored at my games too. I´ve been bored at my pokémon games at some times and I just went to play something else or to be with my friends.
It´s not harder than that. Edit: I have 400+ hours on Pokémon Ruby. |

Usually I'll get that way about any game, to be honest. There's only so much of a game I can play before I can go back and pick it up. I find that if I didn't do that, it would get incredibly boring playing the same thing day in and day out...
...which makes me wonder how in the hell I got 170 hours in Disgaea...but I digress; that game kicks ass... I'd just basically take the advice noted in this thread. Go outside, kick a can, read a book, nuke the whales. Do something to kill time and then come back and play any given game (provided said games don't suck). |

Hacking a game that you know you like can be quite a source of entertainment, though. It's also been quite a learning experience for me; while I have no real programming ability, my skills with design have been sharpened greatly while I've been involved in it. Since my intention is to get a career in the industry, it's also quite applicable |

I wouldn't try rom hacking only because you usually do that when you love a game or want to do more with it. He's more in a "everything's boring" mood, in which case you have to go with the tried and true classics. |

Well, what you could do is play a game you would normally not play?
I don't know what games you own, but if you take a look at the games you won't usually play and find one that looks interesting just try it out. That's how I got interested in Ratchet and Clank. The first one, that is... none of the sequels... Building off of what Colin said: Try rom hacking and the various rom hacks available. That could spark some interest possibly... |

I know I'm afraid of being burnedout. I don't want to be! I love video games. I don't want to stop playing them, having them only being a memory to me. I know it sounds pathetic but I don't want to stop playing. I still have some lives left. I'll get those extra 1-UPs lol.
Maybe I just need to go back to my roots. Play some oldskool NES. |

I think you've been diagnosed with burnout.
You have two options; take a break from gaming for a little bit or check out some classic games instead via emulation or other methods. There has to be SOMETHING out there you'd like. |

Then you're on the good track. Prehaps play some friendly multiplayer game. And not some SOCOM. Something like a Mario Party. And play socially, not just playing for the game. |

Well that's the thing. I haven't played a video game in like 3 or 4 weeks and last night I tried playing one game after the other and got bored bored bored. Then I went to EB Games today too see if they have any new games or something and nothing looked interesting at all. It looked like the same old crap. |

Same thing happens to me all the time. Generally new series of games is a way to get back into it all. I got bored very early into the gamecube's life but thankfully i started Metroid games and began playing the Resident Evil series. Two series which have paid off no end with games like Metroid Prime and Resi 4 being released. But i also agree with Celice i wandered off from consoles for ages but im back playing them again.
Oddly enough i recon our attention spans as we get older when concerning video games actually decreases. Im looking forward to getting completely immersed into a game again. Something which has only really happened when playing Ocarina of time, Majoras Mask and Dues Ex. |

Stop playing. Really, do something else for awhile, and then come back. I don't mean like an hour later. It could take days, weeks. Just do something else. |

I think I've hit a major slump in my video gaming career. I'm not a huge video gamer but I do like to play them whenever I get the free time. But now my problem is, every game that I have or rent bores me. I'm having the hardest time trying to find a game that will entertain me and keep my attention for more than 10 minutes.
It's not like I play only one genre. I play them all from RPG's to action etc....But my problem is I'll start to play a game and get bored instantly. Lol I just don't want to end playing video games but I can't find any good ones to play anymore. Please someone suggest like a new series or new or old games to play. The oldest system I have is NES. I need something to entertain me. Thanks Edit: The Systems I have are: PS2, PC, N64, SNES, NES, GB |
