I've decided to post every single question in Round 1!

(Remember, only one answer per post, although you may try to answer a different question in your next post.)

And concerning your latest answers:
KATW:
9. That's not it.

spel werdz rite:
3. Sorry, that's not the answer I'm looking for.

SoNotNormal:
5. That would be incorrect.

Also remember that once I tell you one of your answers for a question is wrong, you can then attempt to answer that same question again.

Question #11:

A train left on time for its one hour journey and it arrived 5 minutes late. A passenger's watch showed it to be 3 minutes early, so he adjusted his watch by putting it forward 3 minutes. His watch kept time during the day, and on the return journey in the evening the train started on time, according to his watch, and arrived on time, according to the station clock. The train traveled 25 percent faster on the return journey than it did on the morning journey.

Was the station clock fast or slow, and by how much? 6 pts.

4 | 10
5 | ?

Question #15

What is it? 5 pts.

Question #16

Question #17

A common English word will describe a thing as not being found in any place, and yet with no changes to the word other than an added space, will describe that thing as being present at this very moment.

What is the word? 5 pts.

Question #18

There is a concert that starts in 17 minutes and four people must all cross a bridge to get there. All four begin on the same side of the bridge. It is night, and there is one flashlight. A maximum of two people can cross at one time. Any party who crosses, either 1 or 2 people, must have the flashlight with them. The flashlight must be walked back and forth, it cannot be thrown, etc. Each band member walks at a different speed. A pair must walk together at the rate of the slower one's pace:

Leo: - 1 minute to cross
Don: - 2 minutes to cross
Mike: - 5 minutes to cross
Raph: - 10 minutes to cross

How can everyone get to the other side of the bridge? 9 pts.

Question #19

You were given two bottles of pills, one labeled "Bottle A" and one labeled "Bottle B". The pills in these bottles are identical, except that if you take the wrong amount of either one you will die. You must take one of each pill each day, and no extra, or you will die. You already have a pill from bottle A in your hand, but when you try to get a pill from bottle B, two B pills spill out into your hand with the A pill and you lose track of which pills are which. You can't just throw the three pills away and get new ones because you have to take every last one eventually. You can't get more.

What can you do to survive? 9 pts.

Question #20

Bill bets Ted a week's salary that he can drink two large mugs full of beer before Ted can drink one small shot glass full. The conditions are that neither man can touch or move the other one's mugs/glass, and Ted can't start drinking from his shot glass until Bill finishes his first mug and sits it on the table. Bill can't start drinking his second mug until he finishes his first one, and sits it on the table. Since Ted is the faster drinker, and he appears to have a clear advantage in the contest, he happily accepts the wager. After the men complete this contest however, Ted owes Bill a week's salary.

How did this happen? 7 pts.

Remember, only one answer per post, but you can try to answer another, different question as soon as you can post again.

These are all of the questions in Round 1, so after these are all answered, the players with the highest scores on each team will become Team Leaders, and they'll get to give their team a nickname.

Just to clarify, when I say, "don't make more than one guess on the same problem," I mean that a single person shouldn't try the same question again before I dismiss their last answer for that specific question. I don't mean that no one should try to guess that question again before then, just that one person.

Go at it, you've got lots of questions to choose from!

Because nearly all the questions were answered in the first post last time, I'm going to implement a new rule:

Pay attention, here comes the rule!

Only one answer per post, from now on. This means that you will have to wait until another person has time to take a guess in their own post, and THEN you can post another answer for a different question. Also remember not to take multiple guesses for the same question. If you edit an answer, I will make note of the time, and treat it as though you had posted that entire answer at that time, so be careful.

And concerning your latest answers:

Kamek77:
5. No, not right
6. Correct +4
7. Right +5
8. Yeah, you got it +10
You are now on the Green team!
You earned 19 pts. for the Green team!

Koneko:
3. Nope, the abbey or community doesn't work

KATW:
5. No, you ended the quote too soon

Riku:
8. No, 9 can't be the only one true, because if 9 is true, then so are 1 thru 8

Jagori:
5. You got it +7
3. Your old answer was right, and step-daughters don't count. From now on, try to only give one answer per question. +9
You earned 16 pts. for the Blue team!

Oh, geez. I left out the easiest part.

I said that, "that 'that' that that man wrote should have been underlined."

[edit because I just figured out a better answer for question 3]

3: There are two widows, each with one son and one daughter. Widow A's son marries widow B, and widow B's son marries widow A.

Two grandmothers, with their two granddaughters = the two widows; their daughters are now the other's granddaughter, by marriage.
Two husbands, with their two wives = this one's obvious
Two fathers, with their two daughters = the fathers and their (step)daughters.
Two mothers, with their two sons = also obvious
Two maidens, with their two mothers = also obvious
Two sisters, with their two brothers = also obvious

My old answer was that there were two widows, each with one son; each married the other's son, and had a daughter. If stepdaughters aren't counted as daughters, then I change my guess to that.

3. There are four women and two men. They are all part of a biological family, a great-grandmother, a grandmother, a mother, and a daughter. Two grandmothers between them, check that off the list as well as two granddaughters, two mothers, and two maidens. Each man is married to one of the women; Two husbands, and two wives. It so happens that this family is also part of an abbey or other such community; Thus brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters.

6. The word wholesome.

7. Mark is a priest. He married the women to their husbands.

8. Statements 1-5 are true, and statements 6-10 are false.
