It's not just the complaning, Ailure. It's also that the thread is just the same damned thing posted over and over by everyone in the thread.

Well, not really. Minor variations. But there's no reason to let it go on.

Luck, eh? I´d say that it´s dependant on coincidences.

You can predict weather but only to a certain degree. Sometimes the weather becomes the opposite of what was predicted.

Metrology is dependant on luck, so while there's alot of ways to predict weather it's still quite luck-dependant. There's a whole science around luck and prediction.

Meteorology IS a science. Science by nature, however, is NOT exact. Hence the existence of theories and models and tonnes of other little niceties that make your argument fall apart.

We'd be just as far ahead to ask Ms. Cleo for the weather around here...never can tell when it's gonna rain next...just that it's gonna rain. Except during summer.
Actually, the seasons here, instead of autumn, winter, spring and summer, we have mud, cold mud, flooding, and muggy-as-hell.

Meteorology is not an exact science. Done.

So anyways, weather here has been pretty accurate for the most part. Although, my neighborhood always seems to get like, the edge of a snowstorm or something (Except this time, we got 10 inches!), so Im not complaining

Uhm.... what? Even if it contains alot of bitching, I still think it's a valid discussion.

Reopened.

I know the weathermen (and women) here are complete idiots... they said it was supposed to snow (on the 15th day now...) and the temperature here is damn near 50

The weather dudes here in Sweden are pretty accurate, might be related to our country being smaller and most of the rain from the ocean staying in Norway and all that.

For good snow forecasts, you should go to www.wxrisk.com.

I despise the fact that weathermen even exist. They are only right about 15% of the time and the only place they should be able to even attempt to predict the weather is on Comedy Central. Not to mention when they try to predict it up to 7 days ahead, when they can't even get it right just predicting a few hours ahead.

Today it is suppose to be snowing....Its sunny out and ony a few clouds in the sky.
One day, the said it was gonna start raining in about an hour.....never saw rain.

I'd probably have a better chance calling a psychic hotline and getting a acuate forecast then watching the weather.

Well, around where I live I'm guessing it's kind of hard to predict the weather, as it can be quite unstable. But the weather forecast is good most of the time, still.

Of course, you can't expect them to forecast everything down to the smallest detail.

Meh, I think you should cut the forecasters some slack..

They do have a tendency to forecast higher windspeeds then what we actually get right where I live, but that is due to the geography. Mountains blocking the wind, you know. So yeah, what the landscape looks like can also play a part, sometimes.

Haha, we´ve had snow here for like, a month now. I guess it´s 5-10 inches but that´s enough. I wish it could disappear soon, though.

Heck, I´d give it to Xkeeper.

Btw, I never trust weathermen.

Yeah I wanted to shit on their faces today. I love how like 5 inches of snow is a huge ass deal. Like you're going to be stranded through a long winter day like the Donner Party with no food or shelter... in NYC. And these news people are are like "It's snowing! You just might get your feet wet!! Stay tuned for updates on the super disasterous BLIZZARD OF '06!!".

Bite me. I couldn't go out tonight because my parents were expecting the sky to open up and avalanche on our house. My mom bought cases of poland springs and stocked up on food. AND THERE'S THREE DELI'S AND A SUPERMARKET WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE!!!

I'm just pissed I couldn't go out. It is snowing... and currently there's maybe two inches on the ground. So, bite me Mr. Weatherman.

That would be In-Accuweather, which has a notorious history of being way too bullish for forecasts of snow in the northeast (though is too bearish everywhere else).

I think though in New Jersey you should still get snow.

Regarding that Florida forecast, some of the models I looked at did suggest "ocean-effect snow" over Florida. That was a couple of days ago. I suppose now that they couldn't get the factors in place anymore.

Here in Memphis, we got blessed. We had a lot of snow on Friday (for us), breaking the old record for most snowfall in one day.

It looks like we could get some this weekend, around Friday/Saturday.

It's pretty hard to screw up the weather here.

When it does rain here, it's... pretty obvious that it's coming.

It's *still* snowing like a madman here in Virginia.

And, Clockworkz, poor boy. But I'm thinking that perhaps it's not so good for your blood pressure to get so worked up over something that's out of your control.

I remember the weatherman said it would snow in my area...

...in the middle of Florida...

...

It was either I heard that a while ago or I was dreaming it.

Anyway, my news stations suck even though they think they know what the weather is going to be. They'll say 70% chance of rain and it turns to no cloud in the sky as a result. A 30% chance of rain causes dark skies and lightning storms.

It doesn't help that our local ABC news does Gainsville north of us and our local Fox news does Orlando...
