SNESTool has quite a few bugs in it - and is really intended for ROM Management in general. Use LunarIPS or something instead.

And a four-level demo is a good idea, as you get better as you go along. Just look at SoNotNormal's hack for proof.

wtf...?

That's weird...I used Snestool to make an ips file...that's really strange...

Hmm...yeah, I'll release a demo after 4 levels.

Patch doesn't work for me...all it does is make the original game slower.

...

Ah well. I'll wait til you do about 4 levels then I'll play it. If it's really good, Ill be tempted after 1 level

Looks pretty good so far. Keep it up.

Also, you could try putting lava in the Pirahna boss room, but lava requires a specifc special effects setting, so that may conflict with the special effects needed for the boss. You can give it a try though.

I'll trust your word for it

By the way, have you finished that level yet? Can I play it when you're done?

Yeah. Last screenie needs some more dressing. Rest looks good though.

Well, it's my first level ever in YI hacking, this level was basically an attempt to figure out exactly how Eggvine works. The last screenshot is there because that Bounce arrow isn't on that hill when you play the level, you've got to do something to get it...not much is what it seems, same as with my SMW hack.

Finally...FINALLY someone with a half-decent hack. This looks promising. My only complaint is about the last screenie ... looks too plain to me. But I'm serious, I see a lot of potential in you if you keep hacking

Hmm...my hack won't work? ....hmm...hmmm...ah well. I might just post some screenies or something

I didn't want to make the Piranha do anything, I wanted to remove a few blocks so you had to be careful not to fall in the lava while jumping around.

By the way, SNN, the link to your hack says the file is corrupt O-o...I'd like to play it but my computer's being a file nazi.

Go here for screenshots of YIR:

Enjoy...I'll be back...

I've tried that. The Pirahna acts in the same exact way as if there was water...so unfortunately you won't be able to make it do anything special in the absence of water.

I have not started editing 3-8 yet...I'm currently on 3-5 - 3-6. If I were to guess though, I would say no. I have experimented with many sprites on lava, including Goomba and floating flower pots, and they all seem to sink. I would guess the same would go for the Naval.

Then again....the goomba and floating flower pots sink in water too...My best guess would be to try putting Naval on lava .. see how it works. That's the only way you're gonna get an innovative hack is to completely screw around with things. I have a good feeling about you though, you seem like you will make a good hacker. And I don't say that about many people

By the way, can you post a screenie? I really wanna see

Cool, I'll have to try the hack. 2-8 is good enough, shall wait for the next demos. Hacking takes a long time, and...eh...people have a life, y'know?

Maybe I'll switch out the submarine level...

World 1 of SMW2R is called Nature World...basically, each of the eight levels is a different environment...should be entertaining - I'm doing it so I can experiment with making each level.

Do you know whether or not Navel Piranha would still function if I switched the water he's in for lava?

Huge orange space blocks are just plain ground. They're mainly used with ceilings I've noticed. i wasn't able to geta submarine level working at first either, it's a bit tricky.

If you want to try my hack, here is the link:Hack

You can see some of the ideas I used...course this one only goes up to 2-8, since I haven't released the world 3 demo yet

Thanks...maybe with bosses I can add traps to the rooms in addition to the boss...with Eggvine I'm still trying to figure out all the ASM functions and stuff, like the point of "huge orange space blocks" and the such, but I've got it down right now. I'm trying to figure out why on Earth my submarine level isn't loading...the screen goes black when I enter the door.

SoNotNormal - Yeah, that'd be good, I'll take any help I can get. I have a lot of ideas 'cause nearly anything is possible with YI, and I plan on making interesting, fun to play levels over hard levels. Difficult is good for secret levels, not mandatory levels (sparingly you can have a hard level here or there, maybe not hard but rediculously evil, yes there is a difference ) and if I fail to do this someone please god let me know.

Hey Drac . Anyway, I can help you out with hex editing. Definitely with level names and adding more object/sprite data to the levels, but I wouldn't know how to change enemy's power. Anyway, let me see if I can find my old tutorials on that stuff. I'll PM the info to you once I find it.

Welcome to the wonderous world of wonderful Why Eye Hacking. Like SnT, Golden Yoshi would be your best bet for help. I might be able to help too, since my hack is a little over halfway done...but maybe not

I really want to see screenies of your level. The last....oh, lets say....3? threads about YI have been total and utter garbage. Let's hope you can be the one to turn the tables

I'm working on a Yoshi's Island hack I've codenamed Super Mario World 2 Remix (SMW2R)...and after messing around with Eggvine I'm confident I know what I'm doing, for the most part. However, I'm a complete n00b when it comes to hex editing, and hacking YI successfully requires a bit of that. I have both Translhextion and Windhex32. Basically, I want to change the level names, add more object/sprite data to certain levels, upgrade the power of certain enemies, and the like.

I'm only done with one level, screenshots will be on the way.

Thanks for your help.
