Piken's played the game too much... he writes the levels ending in an exclaimation point (!). Those appear when you find all the secrets in a level. Though I'm guessing that if he's hacking/looking at the levels, he currently is

The games are simple enough they should be easy via a hex editor.

Actualy, I tried to tackle the original DK with a hex editor but to absolutly no avail. I'm near convinced there's some sort of odd compression going on with the level format (but really....why? There's 3 levels ), and I sort of gave up after that

It's probably just a really weird format.

I know TFG used to have notes for Donkey Kong. I really wish I had more information than that, but I just can't recall. Maybe he still has some? :\

They are compressed pretty niftily. Either learn the assembly and storing banks or find someone who will crack decompression routine and find the data . Good luck this is a great game and im sure everyone would like to see an editor for it someday, or even the gB versions

Have you actually attempted to find data and thought it to be compressed, or do you just enjoy making things up??

zereo_XI: If the Country series were indeed the games whose data you are looking for, AFAIK DKC1 is the only game with a substantial amount of data uncovered. You can find the documents here: DKC Data. Although there may be various formats of level data, from what I understand -none- of it is compressed (I wouldn't bet on it, but I'm semi-confident). In the very least, -some- of it isn't compressed. In fact, when this data was posted here a bit ago, I was messing around with a level design via hex editor, with a 1:1 ration of bytes to tiles.

First of all. Please, no AOL abbreviation talk. Tkz, is spelled, Thanks. Second, please learn about Rom Hacking as much as possible before asking questions like this. Third, check the stickys and such. They lead you to sites where you can find editors. If there are none there, then you are most likely screwed. Try and find the data yourself. Try and make your own editor. Dont want to? Lazy? Too bad. Someones got to do it. Or how about, the Dont Know How excuse. This is when you know you need to study up and read a bit before thinking about making your first Rom Hack, because without the proper skills, such as Hexediting, Tracing, ASM, and the such, your Rom Hacks most likely will contain big suckage, and noone will want to play them.

Sorry to be so rude, but its the best way to handle people so they learn what they should do.

No, I havn't yet discovered anything of use, but I'd much rather see that game edited than the extremly primative NES counterpart.

Sorry, but I have never heard of one that was even being developed. Try searching for an editor on your own first before posting. If you cannot find one, then there is a great chance that no such editor exists.
