Well, th eproblem is that there's probably... more "OMG I LOST" disconnects than "ooops, my router went on the fritz" DC's.

There are legit disconnects, though. I almost always get disconnected right at the start of the second or third race in a row.

If it weren't for drift-boosting, Mario Kart would lose its appeal tome VERY fast. I need that element that I can perfect.

I completely agree with this. Well said.

I'm not that good at sneaking yet, but I allmost mastered the powerslide, and I mostly ajust my driving stile, if my fellow racer is not so good, I don't drift and stuff, and if he or she is good, I try every programmed in trick I'm able of to win the race, but not disconnect.

Because, Gaming is about having fun!

Worst disconnection scenario ever:

I was racing this guy with, like, a nice record. I mean, it was pretty good.
Their name?
DON'T D/C

We raced. It was close. I beat him. He D/C'd just before I got the credit.
F5cking bastard. GRAH, I hate hypocrites.

I heard that Mario Kart DS registers a disconnect as a loss. It's easy to see why they might act this way, though. They're young, they're all sore losers. However, I do agree that the snaking technique is a little unfair to those who cannot do it consistantly. But nevertheless, that's still no reason for them to get their "panties in a knot", so to speak. Some take their fear of snaking a little too far, such as the guy Kirby ATW spoke of.

I've been debating in my mind whether or not to leave this here or move it to Online Gaming for about an hour.

Or a minute.

*rolls thread into a ball, kittens come along and bat the ball around until it gets to Online Gaming*

I've had all 3 people in a game disconnect at times, which REALLY pisses me off... in essence, the previous races were simply a waste of my time.

Eh. I tend to fight experienced people fairly often, and they rarely disconnect. If my intention is to alter my record through disconnecting and I run into someone who actually seems good, I'll refrain from doing so until after I get a good feel for their skill level, and I'll race them if it's high enough

As I heard, Mario kart won't register the loss if you disconnect like that. Which lame. Infact, if I made a online game... disconnectins would add up as two losses.

Note that I hadn't chanche to play it online yet, due to the lack of router at my apartment... though when i'm able at home I probably keep a statestics how often people disconnect.

This happens very frequently in rivals Kyouji

Youd be suprized.

Just yesterday, I had someone right on the level with a record similar to mine (155-10) (157-23). I beat him in the last race and he disconnected

Then there was this guy with a "Snakers Suck" emblem.(41x-5x) Needless to say I stayed behind right until the end and passed him with a mushroom... Disconnected after the first race.

I almost never have such problems, heh... But then, I almost never venture out of Rivals and Friends.

Yeah...

75% of the people on there just plain suck when it comes to nettiquite.

So its come to the point where I have to intentionally make it a close race to prevent disconnectors... which is really insulting.

That's pretty normal like everyone said. For me, people usually disconnect when they know they won't be able to beat me. For example, say I'm racing one on one with somebody and I get first for the first three times, the score should be 30 - 15. That means my opponent won't be able to win even if he or she gets first in the last race, I'll still have more points. That's when they decide to turn the game off because once the last player disconnects from you, your win/loss record doesn't go up so that's why some people take advantage of that in a 2 player race.

For more than 3 or 4 people, it's a little different. They usually like to disconnect after the first race because they screwed up horrible and give up when they should continue on with the next race and try to do better.

So that's pretty much sums it up.

Oh that attitude is nothing new. That's not really inheirant of any game more than it is people having trouble with having their egos deflated by someone.

Oh you should've seen zbattle any time I went to crush someone in any given SNES game. People really don't know how to keep it together. You figure they would go through a couple of games to LEARN if they ever got their ass handed but...guess that's not usually the case. That's how I got good; getting my ass beat.

I finally played some times online with Mario Kart, and I noticed some things.

Mostly that those, who think thei're good, i.e. win against me in the fierst or / and second race just disconnect if I'm in the lead for more than a lap in the third or fourth race, they just 'loose their connection'.

What's with those? Afraid to accept defeat or what?

And who will it be count? Win? Loss? Nothing? For the disconnecting and the others...
