Keikonium is one of my, if not my best, friend on the internet. I know the real full-time acmlmers don't like him cause' he did something here he shouldn't have done but he is the nicest guy I've ever known. I know he really is upset over something and I know what it is. I won't say anything though just in case. He's been upset all week over this. He'll get over it eventually, just give him time. |

That's what I used to think. But I just recently dealt with exactly that with a friend of mine that I was once very close to. She basically... attempted suicide multiple times, did drugs, and drank... just for attention. And she got it from me, because I was concerned. But after the hundedth time of having to call her up and "talk her out of it" I got tired of her little attention whoring, and told her to never talk to me again. And you know what? She's cleaned up now, and she's desperately trying to have me back as a friend.
It was all for attention, and now that she's not getting it she's stopped. So I'm not so vulnerable to this crap anymore. |

You'd have to be very depraved of attention to mutilate your arm to get it, though.
Honestly, I have always thought that when someone inflicts harm to themselves it's serious, and not just a cry for attention. Just think about it.. it's a rather extreme thing to do, isn't it? |

Yeah I know max, but the situation is different. "Attempting" and taking pictures to get attention is very different than posting a goodbye and doing it immediately after.
This looks more like a cry for attention to me. But hey, there's 800 other members on this board, anyone that lives in Canada go for it if it will make you feel better. |

i think it goes deeper than that Danielle... mental problems are not a funny thing and reactions like that often makes it worse... you have the right to have such an opinion, but something like that shouldn't have been said...
anyways, have you talked to his parents? If you only know him online, then it is going to be difficult to interviene. If Shyguy, you say is true, then he needs institutional help or something of the sort. Other than that, continuing to talk to him is the only thing you can do. |
