If the program is UNIX compatable, I can let my Linux machine chew on it for a bit. It's kickass:
2.6GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor (Socket 478) 1GB RAM (max is 4GB >=D) Fedora Core Linux It has no problem running DOOM 3 at a high graphical setting, it's very fast, so I assume it could help out. knuxt15 AT netscape DOT net =] |

Sry, i forgot until just now. Been so busy with school. Just started it up. No problems multytasking, so its all good. It only takes like 50% of my CPU cycles 
if it finishes before i go to sleep, ill email it back to you. if not, then expect it tomorrow. |

I havent had a chance to scan today, or last night, ill turn it on tonight before I go to bed, and hopefully it will be done by tomorrow, its already done searching through the first dat file, and some of the second, so the rest of that one and the third one shouldnt take longer then that. |

Hm. Looks like you just ran the file or something, which in turn, closed when it switched...You had to thourougly read his instructions...
No matter, mine got done, and Its sent and all... EDIT: By the way, I know what all this is for  Noone told me what game it is, but I found out by doing some...heh....Searching... |

I do, I just don't get much opportunity to. I had 3; two just got completely wrecked (motherboard problems) and then my brother just had to have one of his own...  Only other thing I can feasibly try such a thing on is my DS, but that'd take forever.
I might, yes. In fact I may just head down to the basement after dinner and see if I have any old motherboards kicking around. I'm pretty sure I don't, but now you made me want to go check.
If I just have my computer do it all, though, then that means I can't use it for the next 4.5 days while it runs the program. If I can gather together people to chip in, it may still take the same amount of time to get the results, but each individual computer will only be busy for much less time. (Before you ask, running the program in the background won't do, as it really eats up CPU power and I'm already running Azeureus, Firefox, Winamp, and whatever else I happen to be using. Just those 3 are eating up 15% of my CPU power already. )
Also it's not absolutely required that there be 20 people involved. I chose 20 simply because there are 20 save states to search. Makes the math easier. It'd work with 17 or 10 or 3 or what have you, it'd just be slower. |
