F*cking A! *adds KATW to my cool list*

I had braces for 4 years, they hurt for weeks after every checkup. It's nice to get them off though. It'll feel like an invisible jelly is resting around the front of your teeth and it's really cool! But I feel sorry that you have to go through the first few days of pain. After awhile you'll get used to it.

I hate my new dentist because he put holes in my teeth. There were no large abbrasions (let alone, any at all), the guy took a hook and put all his arm muscle in trying to make holes in my teeth like he's digging for gold. Cost me $100 for each one.

Yea, I had mine for a decade and I skipped out on retention (using a retainer for life or whatever) but I still have a bottom retainer that will stay in the back of my lower front six for the rest of my life.

The worst part about it all would be when they go to tighten it and when you first get it. Eventually, you get used to it...but the first week after the tighten is the worst.

Even worse is when you get teeth out besides the wisdom teeth like I had. I have 6 total out but you couldn't even begin to tell what two in front I'm missing now. That's because I had I had a backchain from the first molar and first premolar that continually tightened over months until both my top second premolar gaps were gone.

So yea, it's a pain...but I have insanely straight teeth now.

I'm the one flying in the back. I still have braces and they contributed to lip bustage in the mosh pit.

Ouch; it must really hurt if you get braces. I didn't think it would be that bad... I wonder what it's like having them. Wisdom teeth; I haven't had mines taken out yet... I might have to get that done soon, though... =\

Invisible braces aren't really invisible, they're just colored to sort of blend in with your teeth. If someone looked at you for more than a second they could tell you had them. I had braces for probably a year at most... they were pretty painful for a day after tightening (occasional) but other than that it was pretty minimal. Getting my wisdom teeth out was hella worse than all the time spent with braces + retainer, and that was only a week. It's funny that I remember very little about actually having braces, but yeah I do understand where you're coming from.

I wish I knew how you felt, then I would understand how you felt. I sorta wanted braces because my teeth looked like they were not straight.

But they cost like, 350 dollars extra. Oh yeah, I feel MUCH, MUCH better. I eat just fine. Just in time for Thanksgiving.

As for growing in wisdom teeth, you have to be extra good oral hygiene otherwise, you'll end up paying more than what you would have paid for taking them out.

But yeah, braces are worth it in the end for many people as employers are starting to take teeth into account of first impressions...

I uhh... hate my dentist so much because he wanted to give me braces, although my teeth are almost perfectly straight and have no gaps. Thus, I decided to tell him I'm going to let my wisdom teeth grow in naturally, because I also have room for them, and it doesn't matter if I do or don't.

Anyways, you'll grow used to them, you'll feel better soon, but if they keep bothering you, go get them checked up, and sue his ass for mal practice if he tries to recharge you for him doing it wrong.

My bite is really different. But the food is annoying sticking everywhere. Had a bad experience with string cheese.

You might be right. I´m not sure what they´re called.

They smell awful when you´ve had them in your mouth for a while.

Thats called a "Retainer" Trapster

You dont remove braces because theyre actually cemented to your teeth...

However, I may have missed something in the past few years

I've had my brace for a year now, Unfortunatly I sounded like I had stuffed my mouth full of food when I talked for two lots of a week. I could eat fine, just a lot slower. Now I eat anything despite my brace breaking twice.

You sure do remember how nice letting chocolate melt on your tounge is with a brace. I have some sort of need for chocoalte daily.

I had braces for something like four years.

I'll tell you this -- it might hurt a bit, but you get used to it, and the pain does go away. You might look kinda geeky too, but that's temporary.

But when it's done, your teeth will look fucking fantastic. And when you get over the Braces Habit of hiding your teeth when you smile, people will comment on how fantastic your smile is.

So, it might be sucky for now, but when it's done, it's awesome.

As for things that people eat with braces, I actually didn't go out of my way to eat anything special when my braces were tightened or anything. Hell, I'd even eat chewy toffee on the bus ride home from the orthodontist. My Mum didn't go out of her way to prepare any special dinners for me when I got my braces tightened either, so even if it was sore I still had to eat my steak or whatever.

Rubber bands are fun too. Mine used to unexpectedly snap when I was talking to people and fly out of my mouth -- ping!

Anyways, been through braces twice in my life (And Im only nearly 16), and yes, it does suck. First day is bad, second day is a little better, third day, you should try soft foods like jello, a sandwich, spaghetti, and after the 6th day, its fine.

Just, dont eat anything sticky... that is bad...

And when you get checkups, there will be tightening, and it will only hurt for like, a day. Not much to worry about, but if you do everything the orthodontist tells you too, you can get them off faster... (In a perfect world though, mine was delayed two months )

Oh, and 7-11 slurpees are your best friend. Nice, cool, and refreshing... and good for getting rid of pain

I had to deal with braces. The pain goes away eventually, and it's not too bad once you get used to it.

Whats wrong with Chicken Noodle Soup?

Braces suck. You're right. I started off with a retainer about 4 years ago, could hardly close my mouth. And boy, did I have a huge lisp with them on But then I got them off, and got braces on. And wow. Feels like your teeth are about to fall off for the first few days

Don't sweat it. Eventually, you'll get used to them, and you'll hardly notice they're there (ok I shouldn't say THAT ) Always remember to take a skinny brush and brush your teeth right under the braces. If you don't, you'll get a really ugly mark when they come off.

Sorry you had to waste your birthday on that And you're becoming a teenager too
