That's before I eat. So it can't be the food.

But yes, I have a good breakfast. Although I don't feel up to eating first thing in the morning, I have it when I get to work.

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Do you eat much during the morning?

That might be the cause. If itīs not that, I donīt know.

Yes, well that's what a lot of those places do.

Oh and I seem to be keeping steady at 73.6kg. I did eat a little bit naughty on the weekend (I even had bacon and eggs for breakfast on Saturday) but I was moving house so I was busy all day each day too.

Maybe if I keep being good I can get that number down further.

Incidentally, my body fat percentage is higher in the mornings than in the evenings. Usually 35% in the morning, 33% in the evening.

I looked at that free bottle one.

Uhm... looked like any other scam site out there. :/ I guess it's more playing on human psycology than fact...

Well....

I started out 88kg (194 lbs). I am now 73.8kg (162.70 lbs) and have lost 14.2kg (31.30 lbs).

I intend to lose another 11.8kg (26.01 lbs) which would mean I would weigh 62kg (136.68 lbs).

Well, good that you finally can see some results, Tarale.

How much are you planning to lose?

Well, the walking seems to be doing something. Up until recently I hadn't seen any significant changes in weight or bodyfat percentage that weren't merely fluctuations (or that one really hot day where I was a kg lighter due to sheer fluid loss)

However, I am able to do my belt up one hole tighter now without it being tight around my belly.

Also, as of today I was not 75kg (165lbs) as seems to have been the standard for a long time now.... I was 73.8 (162.36lbs) Unlike that really hot day I don't think this was due to sheer fluid loss either. So maybe the month + of eating better and exercising is starting to pay off, it was just taking its sweet time.

I play DDR. I can get B's and such on 10 footers (MAX 300, Maxx Unlimited, et al), but if I stop playing for a week I'm screwed and have to work my way back up.

I didn't lose a significant amount because I wasn't going for broke in trying to get good at DDR either. I just did it at my leisure (which just happened to even out at about 1-2 times a week). I've lost the luxury of finding decent spots to put my pad though in this smallish house for a while, though, but that'll get changed. I can push 9-footers a couple 10s but that's if I have the energy to do so, and I usually use a last stage to blow myself out on it. Standardly, though, I'll do 8-Heavies no problem. Most of the high BPM ones will get you moving and most DDR games have a workout mode for the ones that really want to get a workout and keep track of your weight while doing it. I think MAX on up has this.

I didn't really lose more than say 10 pounds total, but I haven't really tried. My guess is it's very possible to drop some serious weight playing this, though. I've heard, seen, watched the stories of it. Sometimes the amount of loss is quite drastic (over 100 pounds). It just depends on your will and if you really like the game or not.

Personally, I'm not all that well off. I'm 6'2", 200 lbs (dancing around) at 20% body fat. I know I used to be better. :\

Tarale - You're definitely on the right track with the walking. If you would like to increase the intensity of your exercise, I would suggest carrying a weighted backpack with you as long as it doesn't bother your knees. (And, along those lines, don't bother jogging if you can't do it without hurting your knees. Joint troubles are not worth it...trust me!) As far as biking goes, is there anywhere you can ride without dealing with much traffic?

You might also wish to take a look at exercise videos. There are all sorts of low-impact workouts that will challenge you without giving you knee pain. Check out videofitness.com, which has reviews and a board where you can get recommendations from other people with similarly cranky joints.

Well, at the moment my exercise is mostly walking, but I am pretty out of shape. It's not a slow pleasant stroll, it is a very quick walk (as fast as I can go... my legs don't seem to move any quicker) and most of it's uphill. It's enough to leave me a little out of breath, so it must be okay for now.

I don't like to jog, it really hurts my knees, but I will have to give it a try when I can. Maybe bike riding, only I am a little frightened of Adelaide traffic; an exercise bike may be a better option.

I also take the stairs a bit at work. I can't yet go all 17 flights of stairs, but I go 7 of them before my knees hurt too much.

I would prefer to swim, but I have some inner ear problem that's been bothering me since last year and I've been told not to swim. That's meant that I haven't been swimming for a few months now... I was able to swim a couple of km before I had to stop.

That might explain why I get hungry so often. If I eat breakfast at 7:20am, I get hungry at 10:30-10:45am.

And I eat LOTS of soured milk during breakfast. It almost flow over the edge of the plate.

DDR can be a hell of a cardiovascular workout if you do songs that get your heart rate up. You have to do songs that are challenging for you at your current level of fitness, and you have to keep at it long enough to get results. Comfortably toodling along might be fun, and it's better than sitting on the couch doing absolutely nothing, but if you aren't giving your body any work that it has to adapt to, you won't be increasing your metabolism to any significant degree. It's like the difference between a leisurely walk and a sustained jog. In both cases, you're locomoting yourself using your feet, but unless you're quite out of shape, the leisurely walk isn't going to do much for you fitness-wise. Also, if DDR is your main form of exercise, you need to play it at that challenging level on a regular basis - at least 2-3 times a week or so. I'd suggest shooting for 30-60 minutes of playing. The time to play depends on the intensity of the workout. If you're consistently busting your ass on difficult songs that leave you gasping for breath, you can get away with a shorter workout. If you're working at a more moderate intensity, you'll have to go longer to get much out of it. Again, as a comparison to walking and running...someone can comfortably walk at a brisk pace for an hour, but a workout consisting of sprints would wear them out much more quickly. (For the record, sprint workouts are incredibly efficient at helping you burn bodyfat...but be wary of this sort of training until you're already pretty physically fit. And don't do anything that gives you joint pain or any other bad sort of owie. It's not worth it, umkay?)

Quite a few people - including one of my friends - have lost significant amounts of bodyfat playing DDR because they played consistently and kept pushing themselves to learn to play at higher and higher levels. When I first got DDR, it didn't give me much of a workout until I could do at least 5-foot songs (and even then, only a very few - like Afronova - challenged me, and when those became easy, I of course had to keep moving up).

I actually think Hiryuu DID lose some weight playing DDR. Not a huge amount but still notable.

Of course, you'd have to probably supplement DDR with some other activity like Ailure suggested. Either diet-wise or exercise-wise.

DDR might work to a certain extent, but if you're serious about it you need to work your whole body WHILE maintaining a diet.

I need to lose weight, and change my diet. Thing is that I feel rather lazy when it comes to food, so sometimes I just go order a pizza becuse I feel so damn... tired. Meh, I need to get that training bicycle at home over here. (It's freezing cold around here, and my parents dosen't use it).

Meh, you know what? For a week from now on, i'm going to cook all the food myself. Becuse I said so.

I can guarantee you my favorite way to lose weight would be to get a bodybag and just punch it nonstop for about an hour straight a day. That'd take care of a lot of my aggression and energy problems.

Alternatively, I do on occasion jog. And I also fence, which can get very intensive as a physical and mental workout. The stretches we are required to do get the fencers into an almost zen-like state, where slow, thorough motions that fully stretch and work the muscles take point over repetition. The point is to become lean, not to build muscle.

And then there's DDR... But I don't know if that's exercise or not, come to think of it. It doesn't seem to work as well as eating right does. That's all I really do, just eat decent food and no junk (well, maybe a pizza pocket every now and then or some donuts if I'm feeling lucky).

Wait.

It's a game.

Why does anyone think they can lose asdf weight from playing DDR all the time? Hiryuu can't, DD can't, I can't, Ziff can't, we're like the wtf DDR players of the board (if not the best at least the most vocal about it) and we're also the ones with the least amount of overall weight loss. I lost 40 pounds two summers ago because of ANOREXIA. Like, going for days at a time without eating. Now my excess skin hangs off my bones like a leather jacket and I'll have to wait about four years for it all to suck itself back in through general use. Assuming, of course, I don't decide to fatten myself up again. Which I won't. Because I'm hungry now and I don't eat because I have nowhere to go to eat and there's no food in my dorm. And since I'll be at college for the next four years, I'm guessing food is gonna lose priority over education and stuff.
