I saw some guy back into a lamp post or something once. I laughed, he swore.

I've seen quite a few, but nothing fatal. I've seen enough to keep me off the roads, though. If I never have to drive, I don't want to. Heart trains. <3 Trains muchly.

OOOOOOH! I have a story!

Somewhere between 5 and 10 years ago I went to Pennsylvania (did I spell that right?) with my dad (he's a trucker, I go with him a lot). Anyway, we were on the freeway, driving along like any other day. All of a sudden, this RV on the other side of the road EXPLODES! KABOOM! Luckily it was in the back so noone got hurt, but it looked awesome!

Another time, on the SAME trip, a couple hours later (damn, Penn is a long state ), we see another accident. This time, a car swerved and hit another one, causing the second car to hit the median and flip like 5 times in the air. Again it was on the other side of the road so we were ok. We had to stop for a few hours while the cops/ambulances cleared out. I guess someone died

I hit someone about a month ago in the school parking lot. My car slid through the snow when I stopped to let them go by and I crashed into their front-left side. There's $1500 down the drain

I've been in a car accident when I was young. My limbs are badly damaged and I cannot walk for at least 2 months. I remember when I was playing in the street back and forth and run to my mother and my father but the car was speeding fast and past the red light and slam on me. It was a serious condition.

Holy crap. No one I know has been in such a serious accident.

Well, your interest about this threads says that you´re quite open when discussing these kind of things.

I've been in one minor accident, witnessed a few stupid crashes all by fellow students who don't have a clue. Nobody was ever hurt.

The police came pretty quickly, so the friend decides, in all his genius, to go to where she landed and try to carry her away so she wouldn't get a DUI.
right.
Luckily they were found and she got to go to a hospital. She doesn't drink anymore.. yeah. All is well now.

I have seen people die at intersections...

-5 times I've seen the entire car crushed, you only saw meat hanging out
-1 time I saw a slow and painful (death?). The lady who got hit while crossing the street had her hip twisted up and shattered. I can guess that she went into a shock. She was trembling and uttering painful moans. I understand what you mean about the slow motion part. First one I've seen made me throw up.

I slammed my bike into a truck when I was six. A parked truck. Still hit it hard enough to get ten stitches and one huge scar, though.

I've been in like 4 auto accidents, but nothing serious. I have had two friends die in two separate car accidents, though. My friend Nolan died on the way home from my house when he lost control of his car going around a turn and slammed head on into another car.

When I was 6 we were in a head on with a large truck. No one was hurt...except the truck driver. We were in some tiny Japanese piece of crap car, too. And then I've seen like 1000 crashes. In front of my grade school we saw someone get t-boned...Since being in the Big City I've seen multitudes of crashes ranging from HOLEE SHIT AWESOME (because no one got hurt) to

I've been in a few car crashes myself, only one of which was serious.

When I was two months old, a truck ran a red light and slammed into the car my grandmother, mother, and I were in. I broke my arm, and still have a scar on my forehead from where glass hit.

Then when I was 16 or 17, I was driving a friend home from school, and we were behind an SUV. I was making fun of the spare tire on the back of it, when everyone braked a little too quickly and I rear ended the guy. Turns out, his car doesn't have a scratch. Know why? I hit the spare tire. My hood was a little smushed and scratched, and my grill was cracked, but otherwise the car was fine. And I never told my parents about that accident. >_>

Then, a couple years ago in my current car, I was stopped at a red light when some woman came too fast and tapped my rear bumper. Luckily, there was no damage there, because I would have been extremely pissed if there was. I <3 my car.

]= Omega I know what you mean. I would have been in the trunk of the car that flipped had I not had a doctors appointment that day. It has a roomy trunk, surrounded by windws that got smashed to bits when the car landed. My friends are terribly lucky. The only major injury was my friend got a broken arm.

Two girls I knew got hit by a drunk driver speeding down the wrong way on a one way street at them. It was horrible.

Argh! These things seriously piss me off!
It's seriously pathetic how many dangerous drivers are out there.
Being a passanger on the way home today, 8 out of 10 people were speeding, and some at rediculous speeds.
Seriously -- I wish those fucking asshole drivers would die!
If everyone would abide by the speed limits and road rules, then Omega's friends would most definately still be alive.

It's incredibly frustrating to see big trucks on the road (who are employed by some huge company, and have their name on their backs) speed down highways. These fuckers should just die and not take anyone else out with them.

There've been two accidents that my girlfriend's been involved in -- Both times it's been the other driver's fault.

One was at a big round-about, and Jayde (my girlfriend) had already driven onto it. Some stupid bitch had sped onto the round-about (WHILST LIGHTING A CIGARETTE), and collided with Jayde. Jayde got the blame.

The other was just a couple of weeks ago. Jayde had pulled up at a round-about, waiting for a car to go past, when two lebonese (big problems here in Australia) crashed straight into the back of her. She had been waiting at the round-about for maybe 10 seconds, and some teenage, up-himself loser crashes into her from behind. That's just as bad as that traffic lights incident

Round-abouts can also be incredibly dangerous things.
Here in Sydney, the government has taken a liking to putting pretty plants and hedges on round-abouts, making it impossible to see if there's a car coming from the other side.

Wanna hear something crazy? My story shall beat all our stories to pulp Except for maybe Omega's. Thats sad man, and I'm sorry for your loss. :/

I was just coming home from school and was getting off the city bus near my house, said good bye to a friend that got off with me and started heading the rest of the way home. As I was walking, a car in the came zooming down the street next to me and made a quick unexpected turn at the street in front of me, they continued to squeal off out of site. Suddenly, I hear a loud crash. I quickly run to the street to see what they hit, I look to the road, thinking that the moron probably hit one of the other parked car along the road....but I didn't see anything. Then I finnaly spot the car and what it hit. Turn out they lost control, jumped the curb and crashed into a house.......but not just any house. Guess whos?

Bingo. Mine.

I quickly run the the front of the house as 2 stupid mother fucking drunk ass teenagers come stumbling out of the car, bleeding and run seprate ways to escape. Just as my mom come rushing out the front door to see what happened after the whole house shook. Luckly the house is make a some strong bricks cause the car didn't go though the house but made a pretty big dent in it. Also, they kinda ran over a bit of the neighbors bushes, with I think slowed them down. But guess what? Thats not all. Not only did they hit the house, but also the gas meter on the side of the house and completely destroyed and was now leaking gas. So now I'm trying to rush my mom out of the house just incase of some explosion. Luckly after 911 was called they quickly turned the gas off...
The good news is they did catch the guys that did this and they went to jail for a pretty long time. The bad news is my mom unfortunatly didnt have house insurance at the time .

The scary thing to is, at the bus stop if I didn't take the time to talk to my friend and to say good bye, I would of probably been crossing the street at the time th car would of been zooming around the corner, and probably would of hit me.

The one major accident I've been in involved a dirt road and a steep hill. The driver apparently just blacked out while going down a hill. The hill had a sharp curve to the left at the bottom. The driver was autistic, so that may have been it. Or maybe he was crazy or suicidal, but whatever it was he just stopped steering. I wasn't exactly frightened, it was more of a "ohhhhhhh shit!!" feeling.

We were lucky b/c only one person was mildly injured. A large dirt pile stopped us from careening into the woods. I was in the back right seat and I remember seeing this huge, 3 feet across tree to the right of me as we zoomed into the pile. We just barely missed all these huge trees, and if we had hit one of those, we probably would have been shit out of luck.

Omega: I don't know what to say other than that I know your friends would want you to be happy in spite of anything. I can't say I totally appreciate the circumstance b/c I've not lost anyone close to me who was of such a young age. Older, middle aged friends, yes. But I didn't grow up with them...

You should all consider yourselves really f'ing lucky. Last year I lost 3 of my best friends in a car accident. They collided with a semi. It was pretty horrific, and I would have probably been in the car had I been in town. I flew back to Vancouver for the funerals. My best friend was in a coma for weeks, and another great friend was in bad shape needing major surgery for his neck and back. Thank god both of my friends that survived the crash pulled through relatively ok. My best friend had major brain damage, but made a remarkable recovery and is still the same guy. I cannot describe what I went through when i first heard about it. At first I thought it was a joke, but I soon realized that it was quite literally dead serious when I talked to a friend long distance. Not a day goes by when I don’t think "what if?". What if I was there? Things would have definitely played out differently. The weight distribution in the car would have been different. We would have taken 2 cars instead of 1. Who would have been driving? What if... How would my family react? What would my funeral have been like? Its enough to drive one insane.

I’m still dealing with it 6 months later. Its not like you ever forget something like this. Hell, i still have dreams about my friends. I don’t expect anyone to understand. Nobody can possibly understand unless they have had a similar experience. Like, in movies, when someone dies, and you think "Wow, quit overacting and get on with the story..." its so not like that in real life. I would quite literally do anything to have my friends back. They most certainly did not deserve this, but life is not fair and there is nothing I can do. Its no video game, there is no retry.

There were no drugs, alcohol involved (thank god). It was pure fluke and road conditions. Had things happened ONE second differently, maybe my friends would still be alive. I say, if you’ve ever had an experience in a crash, count your blessings. Never get involved with someone who does stupid shit like DUI.

The one thing i am happy about is, they just finished with an awesome camping trip. They had a great final weekend with great friends, and one of my friends last words to his mother were "I love you mom".

All I can hope for is that others can understand what its like and take driving seriously. I hope someone gets something out of this post, because it was very difficult to write this.

A pic of the crash: Not Pretty

I´ve never been in a serious accidents but once when I was going home in a taxi, we hit a deer running across the road. Only hurt the car a little.

I´ve also been in a ditch with our own car. I´ve HEARD of many accidents, though. One recent car accident killed 8 people or so. Terrible. It wasn´t anywhere near me, though.

Never been in a COLLISION accident but I've had a few other kinds.

My first was a pretty minor one in a Ford Tempo. It was snowing and the roads were extremely slick in the country. I was going over to a friend's house and along the way there's a curve you need to go around. Well, I was going about 20 and sure enough the steering and brakes locked on the curve and I went straight into the ditch. That was a fun walk to find a way to get it towed out.

A Dodge Neon that we had, that wasn't mine, got side-swiped when I was at said friends house one time when someone backed out of their driveway in an F-150. I was parked on the side of the road and this thing is dark purple; no one's really going to see it. Did nothing to the 150 but did a number on the driver's side back and the area where you pump your fuel.

The others happened in a Ford Probe. The next one I had was, again, in snowy weather. I was going about 55 on the interstate and I ended up hitting a slick patch and went off the side of the road pulling a 180. I was lucky to get back onto the road from where I was. Good thing the thing was a standard shift. Had I been more unlucky there was a guard rail next to an overpass right before where I slid off, I could've gone over, and I could've easily been in far worse trouble had I spun out and flipped on my side.

I had one time where I was pulling out of the dentist's office after getting a cavity fixed and some guy forced me off to the side in a narrow two way instead of stopping and waiting for me to pass with cars on either side. I ended up scratch a car, so I ended up parking on the side of the road and went into the dentist's office to report what happened. Turned out to be the dentist's car that I just got done getting my filling from. :\ Luckily, it wasn't anything major and he didn't press anything against me.

Another happened about a year and a half ago. I was going downhill at 60 MPH and my hood flew up into my windshield. So there I am driving blind in a stickshift in the heat of traffic with glass in my face. Lovely thing. I found a way to pull off without causing traffic incident and walked a few miles to call people to let them know what happened.

I SHOULD have had an accident with that Probe as well a few more times. It was in the shop several times for varying reasons. First time, the fuel pump went out while I was driving, so that ended up being another walk but not really an accident more than the car dying flat in the middle of a drive. This was my first day of college too, by the way. The next one happened when the clutch plate fried, I was lucky to get to a person I was staying with at the time when it did. The other that should've been a MAJOR disaster happened when my car was acting up and wouldn't start. Well, it turned out that the same fuel pump had a fuse in it that had blown, and every time that I tried starting it, it would send SPARKS flying from it. I was also on low gas, so the tank was under critical pressure. I had I been stupid enough to keep doing it, I might've found the fury of a five-gallon gas bomb. Guy who was working on it was scared shitless when he saw what the problem was. Took the battery, the fuel pump, both of those and thanked his lucky stars it didn't blow. Course, I was clueless to this.

So yea, I've had a few close calls, but nothing major yet.

A couple months ago, there were a bunch of lights and such outside, so me and the roomies go to check it out. We see a car with a smashed windshield, and it doesn't look that bad, nothing that would require so much manpower, anyway. Then we saw a shoe. This was about 100 feet from where this girl was laying. Apparantly she was on a bike and got nailed by a car trying to cross the road. I think she's still in a coma.
