I understand that at an intellectual level, it's just that my gut feelings are that it's an unnerving idea, and I feel a mild sense of pity for people stuck in one place.

It is a matter of how much roots you have placed down in one place, I believe. If you never been embedded in a single region for much of your life, then it doesn't take much to get up and go. However, for some people, like me, they can't picture themselves living any other place. For others, the hassel (sp?) of moving is not worth it (packing, changing addresses of all your mail, redoing loans, etc, etc). For others, it is history--there is something about living in the same house all your life and watching the city/town you lived in evolve from when you were young until you grow old.

I'm a navy brat so I've moved roughly once every two years of my life. It's gotten to the stage now, where it feels natural to move fairly regularly. I moved out of home at the start of 2004, to a sharehouse in Sydney, that went pretty well. I managed my first solo move back in November of last year, and that went remarkably smoothly, especially since I had to buy a bunch of furniture.

I'm going to be moving soon after I just got done moving into a place in November. It's only going to be me though (weird situation) but that doesn't mean I like moving at all. This'll be my fourth move in 10 years. Least this next one won't be that much of a move.

I go to Long Island (The Hamptons) in the summer sometimes.. and yes, it IS different. It'd be awesome if the entirety of Long Island is like the Hamptons... but it's probably not.

I don´t like to move either. We´ve only moved once but that was when I was around 12-14.

I got pretty sad but it wasn´t like the world ended. And it was fun to invesigate the area we were going to live in. Me and my cousins found an owl's skull in the woods there.

We poked at it with a stick and it broke into two parts.

I don't like it much.

I moved from Philly to Puerto Rico, then from PR to Florida then back to PR.

Not much but I just generally hate the whole process.

Let's see, I moved from my home of 18 years to college, then moved back home for my first summer. Moved back to college, then moved to a different dorm for the summer, meanwhile my mom had moved to a different county. Then I moved back to that new house for a couple of weeks, then into my current apartment.

Moving is a bitch. I never did fully unpack here.

My parents are divorced, so I live in 2 houses constantly. I'm always going back and forth, and let me tell you, THAT gets old. I'm not legally allowed to stay at one place, or even make my own decisions about where I go. My mom has lived in the same house for close to 8 or 9 years... but my dad has moved more times than I can count. Both local moves, and out of state moves. I've probably lived in over 10 different houses, and yeah, I hate it.

When I was younger we moved around a lot. I sort of got used to it, it was a lot of fun packing everything up and then the excitement of unpacking everything .. sort of like Christmas day.

I've lived in the same house now for 11 years. Now I'm older, I'm not too sure how I would handle moving to a new place. I suppose I would be ok with it.

I should actually say about 10 places. I have stayed at hotels for a couple of months when I was younger. The worst was moving from South Dakota to Arizona because I had alot of friends and loved the cold weather. I was born in Arizona but when I was about 7, we decided to move to South Dakota. About 5 years later, we moved back to Arizona again and have been there since.

Oh by the way, my mom didn't have a job that involved a lot of travelling. We just couldn't stay in the same house for a long period of time when I was younger. Thank god for the place I am moving out of I lived at for almost 2 years .

And the last time I moved, it was around three or four years ago, to another house within my city. Earlier in life, I enjoyed moving because you got to see the inside of a new place. Also, it's cool to see a bare room, it makes you feel more freedom in terms of movement. Then again, I was only a child back then, and my mind was filled with innocence, so I didn't have to unpack my own stuff.

I haven't moved in about 13 years. However, I've always lived in the same area for much of my life. I haven't been displaced far enough that I had to lose all my friends but I've lost some friends due to them moving far.

When I get a place, I'll probably be drunk within 15 minutes of moving in.

I haven't moved in 10 years... but that's about to change. I'm not moving so far, but it's still a distance away from my friends. It kinda blows.. alot.

The last time I made a major move was from Jersey to Staten Island in kindergarten. I cried my eyes out.. and haven't seen all my Jersey friends since. I still remember them to.. Amanda, Kayla, Cherry and Adam. Awe, childhood <3..

I don't like to move. Except when I find a place of my own.. that'll pwn.

I am currently packing my stuff to move to a different place. I am the type of person that really hates moving. The reasons why I hate moving are because I hate packing and unpacking. Also, it takes me a long time to get use to new surroundings. In the past 10 years, I have lived in like nearly a dozen different places. Most people would think I am use to moving alot but I am not.

Anyone else feel the same way about moving and if you want to, tell your experiences about moving.
