Age doesnt really mean a thing. At the age of 8 i completed 96 exits of Mario World, Wooped Ganon's arse and thoroughly caned UN Squadron all on the SNES....Prior to that I had completed all the NES games id owned. The only thing thats concerning is that someone so young can be so influenced by video games.

Now im pushing my 11 year old sister onto the SNES and she just completed all of Mario All Stars and has started on Mario World. Seems kids are getting taught how to use and are expected to use computers at younger and younger age every year.

Still dam stupid Mr Guy. Maybe a little research beforehand.

To be serious, for a moment...perhaps he's looking for a program that would act like a specialized paint program, that would let you open a sprite library, and from it build level designs. Such a program has been requested by more reputable rom hackers, looking to plan out their level designs before actually writing them to the game.

...alright, I admit, that was a stretch.

Hmm, if it doesn't need the ROM then the ROM data would have to be stored in the editor for it to save every time. That would basically mean distributing the ROM in the editor, a no-no here.

Six? SIX?!? Jeez, I only come on here when I was 10!

But no seriously, a rom editor without a rom? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's like taking the heart out of a human body.

Yeah, seriously, six year olds need to keep off the rom-hacking. Do better stuff! Like play Megaman. Megaman's cool. Okay, Raditation is correct, but seriously. This kids shouldn't jump into the 12ft deep pool when he's only just adapted to the kiddie section.

Hey, dudes. You have to admit this is pretty smart for a six-year old. I mean, he has grammar and punctuation that rivals the majority of the internet, not to mention a drive and ambition that no one else can match.

Seriously, though, let's institute a multi-year-ban or something. By the time he comes back (if he even does) he will have little to no recollection of what happened and he'll probably be a lot smarter after being around the internet for a couple more years. (Not to mention a lot more scarred for life)

I guess. When I saw his age, I was pretty shocked. At 6, I didnt even know how to turn a computer on...never mind how to do anything as complicated as emulation/hacking at that age.

I made the letter "A" move around on my Commodore 64... I wish I could still do that...

It's not a matter of where, it's a matter of when, little boy. When Satan gets a chance to put on his ice skates and have some fun, such an editor will be made. You catch my drift? If not, don't worry too much about it. It's nothing important. Just know that the odds of such an editor being made are quite slim.

Why would you want an editor then, if there is nothing to edit? Well, like I said, I'm going to be nice. You have to find a rom to edit it. Unless your talking about those cheap "Make Your Own" ones...

Stop capitalize the first letter of every word, and the concept of a level editor that doesn't need a rom is impossible

Maybe the question is so advanced that none of us can fully understand it?

Or possibly (this might be a stretch), Mr. Guy is looking for an editor that can store individual levels as external files, which can later be inserted into a ROM? That seems like it could get messy, though, and I don't really see the need for it...
