Well, there is a simple way to know for sure, Alaster can remove the CSS file from his layout, and send Danielle a PM, and see if it still happens. |

Im pretty sure it has to do with pulling the CSS file from the host (As this has happened to my layout on numerous, but less frequent occasions)
The only real solution is to wait it out unfortunately... Unless theres this really obvious solution that Im missing. Edit. Lo and behold, it begins to hang up on my layout right after I post this |

Kyouji, nope. That one's lightning speed. What's the difference between them? |

Try blocking the images from Alastor's layout. It stops the error then you know it's something to do with the images, it doesn't then you can rule those out. Tools->options->content->second exceptions button from top to get to the thing unblock Alastor's images. |

Actually, I just realized. Does this layout cause problems for you? |

I am really doubting that layouts have anything to do with it. Dani uses Regular Night, and Zem uses Regular Megaman; both color schemes are quite popular, and the thread layout of both is the default, used by the vast majority of people =/ |

What thread layout are you using? Maybe that has something do with it. Other than that I'm out of ideas, maybe Alaster can remove his layout and readd things one at a time between sending you PMs, and you can click through them until you find where the problem starts. |

What Zem described is exactly what happens, but it usually takes a lot longer than a few seconds. A lot longer. |

The height thing has been there since the first version of my layout, made over a year ago. I just never bothered to take it out. |

Okay, I just shift-reloaded this page several times. I didn't get any large pauses, but it always stops before loading your post for at least a few seconds. It loads everything before your post near instantly, and after it renders your post everything after shows up immediately too: it only pauses on your post. And it always does it on your post; it gets past the avatar just fine, even if the image hasn't loaded yet.
Yes, I have no idea what the problem could be, but the behavior is consistent. /shrug I notice one thing looking at your CSS file: that "height=100%" after each background setting is meaningless. I don't think that would screw with things though. the status bar is inconsistent; I've seen it say both imageshack and board.acmlm.org for the duration of the pause. I haven't seen it say geocities, but I haven't been looking too vigilantly. |

As far as I know, I've never had a problem with your layout.
Danielle, the next time you load a thread Alastor posted in, when it locks up, watch the status bar in your browser. That should give some clue as to what's causing the holdup... |

emcee... I'm... Really not seeing what my avatar has to do with it It would stop before it loaded my post if that was the problem |

Originally posted by emcee Actually, it happens to me occasionally with Alastor's layout too. It's happened on multiple computers, all Macs, all using Firefox. (My own computer doesn't have internet access at the moment, so I can't test it with any more browsers, unless I felt like using Safari, which I don't.) |

Well unblock it and try it. |

The first one... but I knew that ages ago and adblocked it on FF ever since. Doing that solved the problem, for the most part... it's still adblocked.
The other two were fine. |

Originally posted by Danielle It shouldn't have anything to do with it, but this is more likely a network problem, than an html/css problem since you've tried it on multiple browsers. Try these links: 1 2 3 Do you get any delays with thoses? |

Nope... nope.
It happens on both this computer (my own, nobody else uses it, I use Firefox) and on my dad's (his computer, he doesn't know HOW to install anything, won't let me install Firefox so I use IE). It happens with both, and it happens on both computer. His layout just... will not load. What would my ISP have to do with it? I have Cox.... not by choice. |
