Posts: 748/5072		 .DAT(a), like .BIN(ary), is just a general data file that could be anything. Deleting it shouldn't hurt anything, but unless you really need the space, just keep it.

Also what's the file's name?

Posts: 14/97		 DAT can be almost anything. Kazaa uses them for incomplete downloads, MegaManX5 PC has it's movies (possibly music too - try Windows Media Player) disguised as such, etc.
I wouldn't delete any unless you know for sure what the file in question does.
