Ahh thank you SO much beneficii. Your map editor is vastly superior to any others and makes map design WAY faster. Unfortunately I cannot try it out at the moment, but as soon as I do I'll let ya know. Thanks a billion.

It did, until a little bit ago. Now your filesize must be at least as big as the original SMB3 ROM, instead of exactly the same size. The new version has been uploaded to my personal Geocities mirror; others, please update your mirros. The Geocities link can be found in the first post of this thread.

Bio,

My belated thanks for the compliment.

insectduel,

Thanks! I'll keep looking at your page.

HyperHacker,

Perhaps, but I don't see what's so revolting about using, say, "Enter" to open up more options for the mode. It's not being used for anything else.

Hmm, but y'all's recommendations have me thinking on some things that I may implement for the GAMMA release; off and on, I've been working out various details in my head. I'll get back to y'all on that.

If you must use keys for everything, at least use the F keys and Ctrl/Alt combos. That's what they're for.

If i'm not lazy or working on other projects then I proberly will at least try to find it for myself. I need to find all the differences that found in the SNES version. All I know so far is the level header on SMB3 when I used the hex editor when I making levels.

I'll post some of it in on insectduel's domain soon.

LOL, just meh eh? Well, I thought keyboard functions would be a little easier to work with, because you have the keyboard right in front of you. Just memorize what keys to press, and you don't have to flub with going over to the mouse moving it to the menu bar, selecting one of them, and then having to go down to the function you want, etc. etc. Pain in the butt. I thought that this, once you memorized the keys, would be a bit more intuitive.

Regarding the font, uh, for some reason I really like the Lucida Handwriting font, so perhaps in the GAMMA release I can just have the Times New Roman be the default and Lucida Handwriting be the optional. But remember, to go to Times New Roman in the current version, just hit Escape once and that should last for the session.

One thing I intend to do is add shortcut keys for the menu commands; this I had not done for the BETA release. This should definitely be done by the GAMMA release.

legoman,

I got your ROM and tested it. It appears that you have a different version of SMB3 for the ROM and the palette data was located elsewhere than the version that my editor supports. It shouldn't take tool long to go through a tracer/debugger, though, and find the start of the palette data for your ROM. Perhaps I can add support for it in the GAMMA release of my program.

Robin,

Thanks for your support!

insectduel,

Thanks for taking a look! I have not looked too much into SMAS, and my knowledge of the SNES isn't as good as the NES. Nevertheless, when I made my CT Shop Editor, I started practicing using Geiger's debugger and I'm becoming more familiar with it. Perhaps, by the DELTA or EPSILON release, I can start adding support to it as I find more out.

I think you or someone else has been looking at SMAS data; I've been looking at some of the data posted. I haven't seen too much of world map data, but any sent my way or pointed out to me would be helpful.

Thanks.

I had trouble with the way Mario was able to move around on my new maps with the other editors, but this one made it work fine. Lovely! I shall be using this one for map editing, methinks.
Not to mention that I can easily do airship and lock stuff with this.
Nice one matey.

One thing you might want to do is open up SMB3 Discombobulator and open the ROM in there, and go to world map. If you get the same problem, then it's likely an issue with the ROM. But we'll have to see.

If it looks fine in SMB3 Discombobulator, then send me the IPS patch of that ROM please. Thanks.

You're exactly right. It does not let you edit locks or anything like that and I think you done a pretty good job on your SMB3 map editor. I wonder if you're thinking about doing the Mario all-stars version of it if I or you found some data for it.

I think I should go back to SMAS for a while when I took a break from my SMB2j hacking project. I found some data here for SMB3 for SMAS but I didn't collect enough data yet.

Isn't MI3 a fullscreen DOS app? They can be quite a pain to use since you have to keep switching resolutions. And isn't it Mario 3 Improvement?

As for your font option, you should put it in the menu. Better yet, put a font selector there. (Or even better, just use the default font, so it looks right on all system schemes. Poorly-coded programs - even things built into Windows - have already ruined the ability to make your own colour schemes by ignoring the settings and looking crappy as a result if your scheme isn't similar enough to the default. Don't add to the problem.)

Very nice.
Altough I don't really see the point of switching the fonts. Just make it Times new roman or Arial.
