I just randomly stumbled upon Songbird, a Mozilla-based iTunes alternative. Being Mozilla based (it's run on Mozilla's really cool XULRunner), it's full of cross-platform and open source goodness, as well as a high potential for integration with other mozilla-based applications like Firefox. I'm really delighted that I saw this project and can't wait for the release sometime in February. Currently I am using gtkpod to read/write to my iPod beacause I am on Linux and it works for the basic functionality, however this Songbird seems to be a true iTunes alternative, much more robust and (if that sort of things matters to you) a bit prettier to boot.
