Well, this sure takes me back. My first ever released ROM hack did this very thing in MM1 (I later released an MM2 version but I can't find it anywhere). My sprites sucked, I later upgraded them to this quality but never released it because the original didn't go over very well.

Oh man, this is pretty good playin a few stages with Protoman.
Can't wait to see what's in store for him with level changes too.

I have questions for you

1) What Tile editor did you use

2) Are you gonna do more Protoman sprites in other Megaman games? I recommend to fix Megaman 1 because of Palette.

Wow; the new title graphic is really nice. The 'IN: MEGA MISSION' really sticks out like a sore thumb, though. Its layout is clearly the same as the II that was there before, and it's just plain text, which, compared to your impressive new logo, just doesn't look good. Maybe something could be done about that? And nice job on the extra man; that looks pretty cool. I'm a little anxious to see how your levels will turn out.

I strongly recommend going beyond just a graphics hack and also change the level layout. With the editors available today, it's a piece of cake.

Alright, thanks to Kuja's kind help, I've uploaded the IPS patch (not the rom, like I did have) to my website.
There's a link back a few posts.
Just patch it over a Megaman 2 rom, and you're set. Have fun.

I know, I know... No new level stuff...
Level editor isn't working on this comp, so I'll work on it when I get home.

If anybody takes the time out to play the game, please leave some sort of comments here as to what you think of it.
I guess everything is mainly graphical, but oh well...
It's the fact that I achieved part of my goal that counts.

I hope your sprites is better than Silph's Megaman 5's Protoman. Even SSM used YY-CHR to make Protoman or Bass in Megaman's 1-6. I better compromise between your's and my Bro's.

I was thinking of hosting the Protoman Sprites that my brother made in insectduel's domain as a Program Patch since it deals with the unchanged levels and only the tileset changes.

He may have changed some of them already.

And yeah, I definitely plan to change the levels.
Maybe even work some kind of actual story into this madness.
Anyway, I better get on that IPS thing before I get banned or something.

Ah my favourite megs game. Protoman looks cool and the life is nicely done. I hope you intend to do some level changing. New Protoman specific levels would be cool (whatever they would be).

One word of advice though. Youre no meant to post a url link to a rom. even though the url is not directly linked to it i still dont believe its allowed.

Welcome to the official thread of my first ever rom hack!
I'm quite aware that it probably sucks, but you know what?
I've never done this before, and I did this all on my own,
so I'm proud of myself, as lame as that may sound.

Anyway, onto the important stuff!

Alright, so here's the deal...
Megaman got owned, and now it's Protoman's turn.
Seriously, how much story do these old games actually have?

Anyway, I suppose you'll be wanting to know all about the stuff I'm doing...
...But how about some screenshots first?



As you can see, this is a Megaman 2 hack.
The title screen has been changed, Megaman is now Protoman,
and even on the title screen, Rock (Megaman) has been replaced with Blues (Protoman).
