Music is not a drug, but i have seen people have a need to listen to music as much as a crack head needs his crack. |

Music is NOT a dtug. It's a damn need or requirement. LISTEN TO MUSIC OR DIE! It's impossible to avoid it! YOU CAN'T STOP IT!
And drugs are normally either illegal or could cause serious damage to the body or help the body. Music doesn't do anything except... stuff. Like... well... GOGO CAUSES ANGER! ANGER MANAGEMENT ISSUES!!! Plus it shows your true self sometimes. Ignore this post. |

On an unrelated note (*HINT HINT I AM BEING SARCASTIC*), notice how just about everyone in this topic is saying something along the lines of "I like my music. It has a lot of the same qualities and effects a drug does, but it's not a drug by definition." |

It's possible. Think about it. It's addictive. So are drugs. The method people often use to aquire it is illegal. Same goes for drugs. It can alter your mind. Drugs do, too. Certain types of music can make you feel lightheaded. Drugs can do that as well. Music can make you feel irritated if it is at a certain frequency. Drugs can make you feel irritated you take it frequently. Music played at a certain frequency can break glass. Drugs can cause people who take them to break glass. CDs, which often hold music, can kill people if they are spun around fast enough so that they explode. Things which hold drugs (IE: a beer bottle) can kill people, too. Old people hate new music. Old people hate new drugs. There are five letters in music. There are five letters in drugs.
But this is where things get really scary. If we assign the letters of the alphabet a numeric value, in "A=1, B=2, C=3, etc." terms, MUSIC would be [17 + 21 + 19 + 9 + 3]. This totals to 69. Doing the same for drugs, we get [4 + 18 + 21 + 7 + 19]. This also totals to 69. Now, notice the number. 69. This is a sexual reference. And incidently, both music and drugs have led to people having sex. Coincidence? I think not! It's all a conspiracy! Music is just a "healthy" form of drugs put out in the attempt to make money! RUN FOR THE HILLS! |

No, music is not a drug. |

The media it's stored on has to be made of some substance. |

Actually, one possible definition for "substance" is "essential nature". So even though it's a bit of a stretch, you could say that music has substance. |

Every definition of "drug" that I looked up starts with "A substance..." Music isn't a substance, so it's not a drug. That doesn't mean it can't be addictive, though. |

Yes, from a personal stand-point, I say it is. I mean, "drug" could mean something that you like and need in life, even something as simple as music. This isn't the same as the "real" meaning of drugs: ie pot, blow and so on. |

No. Music isnīt a drug. While it might affect your brain like a drug making you feel happy or calm, you donīt get addicted to it.
Music is everyones right. |

Music ain't a drug. But it's effects can be a bit drug like. If I'm listening to metal for example I can start to feel aggressive while if I were listening to reggae I might feel like just chilling out. However if i don't have music I then I just accept that I don't. |

Originally posted by Coby Listening to music on drugs is certainly different. I don't think I'd have the same love of Akira Yamaoka's music if I hadn't first heard it on drugs. But that doesn't make Tears of Pain a drug. |

Well, I've taken all sorts of drugs and I can say, music is not a drug, but it often enhances the drugged experience. (Better perception of music/sound => Trippy)
Edit: That means No. |

Music isn't a drug until they make a rehabilitation clinic for it. |
