Hot/warm water with salt
And a mixture of honey/lemon juice I have a sore throat at the moment, and I basically do the whole water with salt thing and praying that this bottle of chloraspetic spray doesn't run out. |

Hot lemon tea. It cures my sore throat plus asthma as well. |

If you do must of the stuff mentioned in this thread it's just going to get worse....
If it's a one time thing, you body could get rid of it on it's own, but if it's reoccurring, you're going to have to get antibiotics eventually. If you end up taking them, just be sure that you take all of it and don't stop them once you think it's better. If the sore throat is bothering you, gargle with salt water. It hurts at first, but it really does help afterwards. |

Originally posted by GeckoYamori Did you miss all the times I said "tonsilitis" in this thread? I was on antibiotics due to the seriousness of the infection. It wasn't just a "sore throat". In fact the sore throat was the last thing I noticed. The first thing I noticed is that it became difficult to breathe (I guess due to how swollen my throat was... not fun on top of asthma). Then I noticed dizziness, vertigo, and headaches. Finally I threw up at work when I was on the phone to a client. Which probably didn't impress the client. I only noticed the sore throat once all the more serious stuff started to settle down. I understand that it's not a good idea to throw antibiotics at everything, which is why now all the more serious symptoms (minus the sore throat) had gone away I was asking for a non-antibiotic solution |

Antibiotics for something as trivial as a sore throat? No wonder the bacterias are winning the war. |

You people are a liiiiitle bit violent.
And I'm somewhat averse to pain. At any rate, it seems to have gone away now and I feel a lot better At least it didn't get as bad as before where I was headachey and dizzy in addition to the sore throat too. |

Honey's antibacterial. It's an old aid for dressing wounds. It's too rich and bacteria can't live in it. |

Slit your throat and rip out the irritated area. |

Personally, I find anything that's hot works for me. Coffee and tea would work, as would something that has phenylephrine in it. Like a hot drink medicine thingy. In Canada, our drink is called Neo-Citran. |

It tastes nasty but hydrogen peroxide (3% anything stronger could do damage) can be gargled and is a good disinfectant. They even have instructions on the bottle. Although any disinecting mouth rinse should work.
I'd reccomend gargle with mouth wash/peroxide, then some milk (to coat and get rid of the taste), then some antistetic throught spray, then a good sleep/book/tv show. |

Cepacol, the throat numbening cough drop from hell!
It makes your throat entirely numb and is really weird. But on the plus side, no pain. So, yeah. If you're like me, you'll just take one of those, feel no pain, and then forget about it after a while... Oh yeah, hot drinks seem to help for me, I.E. tea. |
