Board2 even does this. It works quite well.

It's also not too hard to make layouts scroll horizontally (they get their own scrollbar rather than stretching the page - mine used to do this), but it has two problems: One, browsers tend to act a bit funny using it, and two, if it's a long post, you have to scroll down to reach the scrollbar, scroll the layout, then go back up and read the rest of the line, then go down and scroll back, etc.

It was an example- I couldn't remember the exact numbers for the higher resolutions, but could remember 640x480 and 800x600 (not sure if many people use that either)...

Not true. I've reinstalled Windows and been stuck using it before.

There's nobody using their proper Video drivers that uses it anymore

Sideways as in a thread goes left to right instead of up and down?

I don't see where anyone has suggested that.

I would rather the posts be stacked on each other than for them to sideways.

You can remove the tables can't you or is it because I said I put it on the side?

Side effect of lack of common sense.

Yeah, I thought about resolution problems... But there might have been workarounds, like converting 100% (table size) to a width in pixels, and making sure that px width always stays the same or something, while still being different for everyone.

And as for the <table> count thing... You could put a check for ALL tags if you want (and if it's simple enough), with exceptions like <br>...

But it doesn't change the fact that it's relative to the resolution you're using.

Indeed. That was my main thought when I posted.

But Xk brought something else, and he's right.

You need to make something that checks if you have common sense

yes, checking for tables would be nice, but there are many, many, many, many, many (repeat ad-nauseum) other ways to break tables.

automatic image resizing is impossible unless you think inserting javascript into every single post that uses an image and having your computer slow to a halt while it makes sure all images are under a limit is fun.

auto-breaking long words would also fuck over anyone who tries to use tables or even lists, since you can't have linebreaks in them, especially in tables. it'd result in very likely fucking up an html tag somewhere.

if they do, that's why we have moderators and admins who can edit posts.

For the first suggestion, it'd just be a bitch to implant.

The <table></table> thing would be easy as heck, and it's not a bad idea at all.

This would be nice, but I don't know how hard it is. No more layouts sucking, no more stretching because someone uses a few too many 's... the good life.
