"Unless your friend is going to help us fend off this rather large problem, you need to get your priorities in line. And it's Strato, by the way."

Around them, the buildings seemed to be trembling. The promised foes appeared to be approaching rather quickly, and they meant business.

"But I don't care what we're doing after this, since we have serious issues on our hands right now. Less talk, puffball, and more getting ready for a fight."

*************

At the same moment that Evan kicked at the girl, the hole in the barrier had started to open. It was far too small to do anything with, but it showed that the barrier was breaking down, if only slightly, by use of the remote magic strike. The real danger, Aether knew, was that now that there was a hole in the barrier the strangely strong little girl would notice and do something about it. Aether cursed herself for her methods. She had sacrificed stealth for speed by using this method rather than weakening a larger area before the first actual penetration of the barrier.

"Tch.. Of all the places to meet you.."

I for one was not expecting to see anyone I knew, even less one of the members of the Sky family. The last thing I needed was someone to nag me.

"I'm looking for a friend, Stratos. I know I've got priority problems, but my friend comes first.... I'm procrastinating."

There was a loud blast of excess sonic noise as the stream collided with the ground, with Miller, and kicked up a mushroom cloud of tar, dust, and smoke...

...And Miller was gone. Where? It was impossible to tell. Maybe he had been blown to pieces by Loki's attack. Maybe he had run away. Maybe he was right about to attack Loki!

A few seconds of silence after Loki's attack proved that thesis wrong.

Whatever the case was, Miller had been there long enough to finish what he was supposed to do. New allies were present, and his presence was no longer required. We can focus on someone else's story now. If he's not dead, he'll be back. Sometime or another.

---------------

Evan shifted left and right, his massive bulk inexplicably moving like a butterfly in the meadow of the battlefield. As all sound from the outside was cut off, he could only see Shen's pleas as he glanced sidelong, keeping his distance from the little girl and absorbing the Chaos energy back into his Emerald shard. The moment he saw the mysterious stranger ricochet off of the little girl's barrier, Evan knew he had finally gotten his cavalry and steeled himself to keep fighting until his new ally was in a position to help him beat this freak of childish nature. He attempted again to close into melee range, this time mixing up his attacks.

The little girl wouldn't know what hit her if he didn't let her know where he was coming from...

With this line of logic, Evan rushed her again, this time coming from several angles at once. He had to feel her out, understand where her agility would lead her. It was matching his easily, and Evan knew he was pretty fast. There was only one real explanation, and that was that she was toying with him. He launched a beefy fist from the girl's left before circling around to deliver a hard soccer kick upward, assuming she'd try, rather than block his attack, to dodge it again.

He had backed up against that barrier once before... It burned him just to be close to it, trying to punch his way through would be useless. It really was up to whomever that person was to break it. Until then, he'd do his best to defend Shen.

Strato shot a harsh look at Guy.

"A Child? Hardly. I've been through more ordeals at this age than a lot of warriors do their whole lives. Let these new warriors come, I can take them on easily."

As he drew his blade, a slightly curved and slender sword, and drew his gauntlet into a more aggressive attack mode, the warrior remembered his father's instructions. Limit aggression to just what's necessary until you know exactly what you're dealing with.

"Will we need to have a full-out battle, or just fend them off for a while so we can get away and regroup with others? It's kind of important to the battle strategy I'll use."

********************************

Aether heard Shen's cry, and sensitive to her needs, abandoned her observer's stance to leap into action. The first leap, however, was a mistake. The barrier proved far stronger than she had predicted, and a focused magistrike caused her to be thrown violently into the earth. Another strategy, then, was in order. Focusing her aura, Aether examined the barrier separating her from Evan and the tiny girl. It was strong, but certainly not impenetrable. It might be worn down through a remote magic strike, focusing small energies on it from multiple angles rather than a single powerful force. She focused on creating a more sustained hole to allow Shen to enter as well, but feared it would take too long to be able to assist Evan inside, as she meditated.

********************************

Sky gave Elysian a disarming smile.

"If you knew how many times I've been promised that I couldn't win, that a certain course of action was sure to bring me death and destruction, you'd think I was crazy, since in every one of those cases I've gone at my goal just as intently, if not more so. There are only a handful of individuals who can oppose evil, through power, cleverness, or even sheer force of will. Whatever it is, I seem to have enough of it to make a difference sometimes, and as such, I have the responsibility to do something. And you can make some amazing friends doing it, too. But you can also lose them. I knew this was serious, and have my children helping as well, since they're among the chosen few. But you've been carrying that guy for a while. Mind some assistance?"

OoC: Yeah, there hasn't been a chance to logically explain what's going on, or at least the one chance I had was used to introduce something else. Anyways, a little thing I try and do is wait for everyone to post, Grey is kind of unpredictable so I just figured to tell you.

Guy's eyes glowed a little brighter with the dark flames as this newer person appeared.

Guy: "A guardian and a child? What's next?"

Guy looked back as they left the city, the city would soon disappear from reality, not just their vision.

Guy: "Since you came, I'll give you a basic explanation of what's going on."

Guy seemed a little jumpy, but he had his reasons.

Guy: "The 'Society of Death' was the rulers of the after life. They decided that souls of lesser calibers would be servants in the after life, those of stronger caliber would be the masters. Hardly anyone met the... requirements to be strong. Origin stopped it though, he over turned their rules and implimented his own. When you die with Origin's rules, your essence of your soul gets recycled, and you memories are stored. When you are finally ready to sleep forever, you remember everything and you are allowed to dream forever."

Guy stopped suddenly.

Guy: "They're about to attack us... It feels like a captain and a lieutenant. Get ready..."

Shen's senses reached out at this new person. She could feel the power of this person. It was more than enough to help Evan.

Shen: "Please... help Evan, you can break through the barrier, I can't..."

The armor took a step out of the portal and seemed to get much stronger, almost equal with the captians.

Armor: "Now that my attention isn't diverted..."

The armor held his sword above him and there was another crack from the statues, a thin male disappeared as soon as it broke out.

Thrudd: "So, he's after the ones that left... Damnit..."

Armor: "Do you still want to fight Neobowser, we're both limited to a simple avatar, it'll be fair."

Elysia still had Raza slung over her shoulder.

Elysia: "The laws of the world are about to be changed. I'm just trying to stop that before it happens. If it happens, I'll die too. I suggest you don't interfere though, you're just bringing ruin on yourself."

((Wow...I read the whole story thus far, and I'm still not exactly sure what is happening...but I'll try to follow along and figure it out decently well...))

A voice came from the darkness near Kirbynite, startling him. It was somewhat familiar, but he couldn't quite place it.

"He said you'd be here, right in the center of the action. He didn't tell me you'd be running away from it already, though. I've got to say, I expected more."

The figure stepped forward from the shadows. Clad in a long black trenchcoat, and decked out rather extensively, Kirbynite recognized him instantly as Sky's son, who had gone through something of an identity crisis, and seemed to have a different name each time he showed up. Quite a good fighter, and possessing a good deal of magical power, he had some difficulty focusing it, perhaps based on his magicless mother. As such, he drew a lot of his power through Magitech systems, which allowed him to use the best of technology and his own powers, focusing them as he had some difficulty doing himself. Barely an adult, his voice had the stress of one who had already been through many ordeals.

"It's Strato this time, by the way. So where are you headed, and why away from the fun so fast?"

**************************

Taking a far different approach, a girl just a bit younger watched from a nearby hill as Evan fought what seemed to be no more than a child. Kept from them by a barrier, she could only watch. Draped in mages robes concealing a more fighteresque outfit, she waited patiently for a chance to intervene. Aether practiced a state of meditation. She was only here to observe, as her father had reminded her time and again, unless the situation became desperate. She smiled. He had such concern for her safety, and always had. As the last link to her mother, his lost love, she would always have a special place in her father's heart, and she knew it pained him to send her into potential danger. But she and her brother...half brother, she supposed...were the ones he could trust the most, so he had no choice. Trinity could only be matched as such. She wondered how the others were faring.

**************************

The red-robed traveller approached Elysia cautiously. He had seen what she could do. He had also seen what force had been brought to bear against her. He wasn't exactly sure of the situation, but knew it was going to be a wary one for all parties. Sky regretted having to bring his children back to this time to deal with this, but then, he smiled as he remembered, it was hardly the first time, nor with his luck would it be the last. With luck, their assistance could bring some balance to the problems, balance the world sorely needed. He had heard of the reports of the situation in New York escalating, and considered going there in his son's stead, but knew one of them needed to be here in the desert. Pushing these thoughts aside, he addressed the woman.

"I've seen what you can do. But why are you here? What are you trying to start...or prevent?"

The shrapnels didn't even reached Siryx. He held his hand foward and the shrapnels stopped right in front of him.

"What? Is that all you can do? Heh... well, anyway. It seems like the upholders of Evil are all tall around here and judge people on size... well, if I must destroy this armor to prove that I am more than what I appear to be... then so be it!" stated Siryx, lowering his hand and causing the shrapnels to crash down in front of him.

"Now... do you have any feelings, little armor? Can you feel anything?... and if so... what shall I give you? What shall be the gift of the Devourer of Possibilities to you?" he asked, climbing the mound of shrapnels and slowly approaching the armor...

"Shall I give you pain? Shall I give you despair?... or maybe hatred?... or sadness? Maybe I'll give you nothing and take away your form, plunging you back in the emptiness that spawned you... or maybe I'll simply absorb your consciousness and use your physical form as a puppet? Many fates are possible... many worse than death. People fear death... but death is nothing too bad, when one thinks about it. I brings about something that will make death look nice and forgiving... and you, common servant of True Death, will have a glimpse of it!... if you want to, that is." Siryx stopped in front of the armor.

"Now... let us give those gentlemen a good show!" he said, pointing at Thrudd and Destin. "I have prepared some suitable entertairnment for them! Let us not disappoint them, shall we?"

"Me? Why, I'm the defender of justice. The destroyer of evil. The champion of the little guy." I gave a short laugh. I needed some form of light from all this gloom around me.

"Well, alright, that's just my part time job. My name's Kirbynite. And I'm just passing by. Actually, most people in my world shouldn't really know me either."

I suppose I spoke a bit cryptically, but I atleast answered his question.

Loki's sword flashed and the entire sonic blast was absorbed into it. Loki used the energy instantly, knowing exactly how to stop Miller from retreating. Loki hardly took a step and he was completely gone from view, entering a state of speed that surpassed anything anyone in the circle, except the captains, had ever seen. Loki appeared right about Miller, regardless of where he was, and slashed straight down, releasing the energy of the sonic scream in a single, thin, wave of energy.

The armor didn't even get the chance to step outside of his own energy as the statue finished cracking. The shards of the statue exploded into deadly shrapnel, all aimed at Siryx. What was left was a rather large figure, in the same death angel clothes as all the rest, but with a wooden looking helmet that covered his entire face. It looked more like balsa wood than solid wood though.

Thrudd: "Destin!"

The rather large figure looked towards the approaching Thrudd, who looked cut up. Destin sniffed the air and looked towards Siryx.

Destin: "A rat made it this far? What are the sentries doing!?"

Thrudd: "He's stronger than he smells."

Destin: "Who did that to you, was it this rat?"

Thrudd: "No, don't worry about it. He isn't even worth our time, let's let Death's Armor take care of it for now. Soon Death will be here and True Death will follow after."

The armor looked at both of them, then at Siryx.

Guy: "So... who are you?"

Guy (Dark Phoenix) was walking by Kirbynite now. He had many questions for this strange person, especially why the captain didn't kill him when she could've.

Guy: "I know you aren't around here, I would recognize you."

The little girl jumped into the air over Evan's head, took out her sword, and hit the energy straight back down towards Evan as soon as it left him. Naturally, she was laughing the entire time.

Meanwhile, Shen was forced to watch, the only thing she learned from the little girl was her name. Ami.

Siryx remained there, staring at the armor. "You think that you can impress me because of your size? What a fool. You understand nothing of what is happening... and anyway, one of our good friends are awakening. I hope for your master's sake that he will understand what is happening... for you clearly are in the dark... not that I am surprised. You are nothing but a common grunt, anyway..."

"So... is there a lot of power coming out of that armor?" thought Siryx, letting his living weapon read his thoughts...

"Sure! He is absolutely no match for you. The connection that the foe has is pretty weak ; a strike or two and he'll run for cover. The power that comes out of that statue is another story, however. It's raw power output is inferior... but it's power is genuine and probably overpower you in your current state." explained the multi-eyed weapon.

Siryx grinned. Looks like he's right. He prepared himself. Facing that weakling should help against boredom while he waits for one of True Death's captains to awaken...

And just then... My treasure hunting senses had been set off. I don't know what it was, but my intuition told me I needed to travel to another continent. Perhaps.. it was my friend?I found it a bit strange for me to have felt that intuition, out of nowhere, but then again, this is Mitra we're talking about. She's had the knack of being surrounded by strange events from time to time.

....... I wasn't too sure if I was looking for an excuse to look for treasure, or to get as far away as possible, but it really was the only lead I had.

As to how to get to another continent.. Well..

Miller getting hit to the stomach only accelerated his action...

He let out the air he was inhaling... In a loud, reactive sonic scream that threatened to level anything around him, more specifically Loki.

Blood flowed from Miller's wound, and yet all he could do was scream... Anyone around would hear it. Whether their heads exploded or their ears started bleeding was up to them.

The second he finished, Miller zoomed away into the distance, a lightning-fast figure that streamed fluid from hole and sole. His job was, for the time being, done.

---------------

Evan: "RAAAAH! Chaos Control!!!"

The shard of the Master Emerald inside of Evan's coat began to hum softly, as a sudden wave of purple energy expanded from his body. He doubled over in pain as the emerald shard felt hot against his torso and sent a reactive bolt of Chaos Energy through him. However, he also knew that the same thing was about to happen to the little girl if she didn't get the hell off his head by the time the blast came out.

"Sh--shen... Help me..."

I turned my Rex Wheelie away from where the woman was heading. I held up my right hand, giving a goodbye wave. I wasn't too sure if she noticed it, but it didn't hurt to still do so.

With a tap to the side, the one-wheeled motorcycle of mine started to move forward. It understood it shouldn't be pushing itself to move fast, since, well, it's kinda noisy when it's hauling ass.

During this little stroll, I was treated to seeing the remains of all the chaos that had occured before I arrived. Was the rest of the world like this? Or was it just this one area? I'd hope for the latter.. It's a lot harder to find information when there's no one to give some.

....I doubt the streets would change from its tormoiled appearance for a bit, though. I was heading to Jersey.

The little girl again showed her radical speed, probably due to the advantage of being so small, and actually flipped up, jumped on Evan's hand and jumped onto his head, laughing the entire time.

Little Girl: "*between laughs* See, I told you that you were strong!"

Shen struggled, but she managed to stand up. She was still blocked from helping Evan, but if she could move closer, she could at least distract the girl.

Loki was caught, a little to easily. He got ready for Miller's attack and prepared his own. He held the sword in front of him, but a blade exploded out of the hilt right as Miller was about to perform his next action.

Zaraki swung again at Origin, who just moved again.

Zaraki: "Why don't you fight!?"

Origin: "The same reason why I wouldn't fight your second in command. Brute force does nothing against you but fuel you to keep fighting."

Zaraki sheathed his sword.

Zaraki: "Yeah... it's no fun fighting you."

Origin: "Nor will it ever be. I could destroy you if I wanted, but it'd take to much time and energy. I don't want to destroy you though."

Zaraki: "Whatever."

Evan retaliated in a fit of rage. He immediately rose up and bore down on the little girl, eyes bulging with anger now, rather than pain, and a gigantic gloved fist clenched. His voice boomed so loudly, it was hardly muffled by his cloak and from behind his visor-shades, it almost seemed like there was real fire in his eyes...

Evan: "Bandit Crasher!!!"

His fist engulfed in flames, he slammed it down at the little girl in her laughing fit, sending a shockwave out from the point where his hand began to rush at the ground and following through with a hit that'd register a 7 on the Richter scale.

"NEVER HIT A MAN THERE!"

---------------

Miller said, well... nothing, as usual. He just pointed his finger toward the balls of fire, and the hundreds of tiny wires around his hand whipped outward, snaking around the fireballs and slicing them into burning ashes as they fell. He sent another electric shock out, and the wires in the air were charged with electricity, creating an energy field around him that served to blast the bits of sulfur into dust. He disappeared in another unmarkable motion, and appeared right behind Loki.

Miller squinted and attempted to grab onto the deranged wannabe god, bringing his head close to Loki's. As soon as he gets a good grip on him, Miller opens his mouth and inhales...

Woman: "Then you have to leave... when you come back, this city will be turned into a fortress. Talk to the guards and ask for Captain Thrud."

The woman walked towards Kirbynite and grabbed her sword and sheathed it. She then cut herself across the arm and gave a scratch to her face.

Thrud: "They'll think you're dead."

Thrud walked back towards where the captains had awaken.

Their was another crack from the same statue. It was a horribly big armored creature. It looked like it wasn't human. There was another crack, but it didn't shatter.

Armor: "You're wrong in thinking I'm weak. My body actually ties up the connection from our reality, I'm that powerful."

A sword appeared in the armor's hand, the sword was almost as big as the armor itself.

I picked myself up from the ground after losing my balance on the Rex Wheelie. It was a bit hard to concentrate after watching a lady pleading before you. I, however, regained myself and stood up straight. I gave my Star Rod a twirl and spoke with a smile.

"Don't you worry. I'm aimin' to take care of that demon lot."

I clicked a button on my Star Rod, turning on its Star Blast Charge feature. It wouldn't hurt to start gathering energy now.

"Though, I'd like to take my time in doing so. I don't understand what's going on in this world... Maybe gather up some newfound powers or something. Oh, and I've also got to look for a friend."

Siryx stared at Emptyness, grinning.

"Yes I will threaten you! YES I WILL!" his confidence grew and grew as he felt the Darkness gathering...

Siryx stood there, silent for a short while... and then, he spoke.

"I can and will threaten you¸, inferior being! The more you will hate me... the more you will be angered... the closer you will be to your ultimate doom! Go on! Hate me more! You hate me enough to wish death upon me, don't you? You are angered enough to unleash your wrath upon this body, isn't it? GO ON! Go on and offer yourself, body and soul, to Him!" Siryx sheated Soul Eraser and stood there...

"Can you feel it? The pure flow of power... the anger... the Hatred! It is gathering... Go on! Do not resist! Give in to Him and surrender yourself to Him, giving in to your anger and attempting to destroy my body. Even if you break it, it won't matter. Anyway... you seem like a better... PUPPET..." Siryx said the last word especially loud, his grin reaching it's maximum size.

Truly, fooling the inferior beings of this world was sooo easy. True Death really need to find himself some new minions!... for those ones are complete incompetants! Trying to cut off a link of Hatred by giving in to snger? What a joke...

But well, getting through those clowns was worth it. As incompetant thab his underlings might be, Siryx suspected that True Death might be definitely smarter and stronger than all those morons... and anyway, that Emptyness goon seemed like an inferior goon. He lacked the aura.. .and his armored self was big... but rather lame-looking, actually.

Still, a Captain was now awakening... and since this one would be a greater servant, Siryx couldn't wait. Surely, this new minion will prove itself more worthy than Emptyness who only proved his stupidity and weakness... who knows? Maybe the Captains even exceed the powers of his limited physical form?... well... DUH! Most probably or else, he'll be disappointed.

The woman kept going, now out of sight and hearing. She looked around, making sure no one could see or hear them. She took out her sword in one hand, then she threw it towards the pink puff ball. It came up short and stabbed into the ground. Then, she dropped to her hands and knees, trying to get as low as possible.

Woman: "Please, help us, free us from that demon. Remove our leashes and chains and let us go back to the way things used to be."

A few tears fell from the womans face. She had acted against her master, if she turned back now, she would be stripped of her power.

Woman: "We can't physically act against him or he'll destroy us all, so please, help us."

Emptyness: "You will NOT threaten me!"

The emptyness began to take a shape, what looked like very heavy armor started to appear, completely black. The helmet had large broken horns on it.

Armor: "If you threaten me, I will destroy you myself and you will not return, the darkness that spawns you will fade into nothingness!"

Another statue began to crack...

... which was probably worse for Miller than it was for Siryx. The electrical charge hit Loki like he was standing still, but he didn't seem to badly hurt from it as he landed on the ground without even a scorch mark or a scratch. The crystal blade began to shine brightly.

Loki: "My power... my special power... Is to convert the energy from other's attacks into one of my own attacks!"

Loki held the sword in the air and fire shot from it. Hardly a second later and fire balls started to rain over Miller, at least, it seemed like fire balls at first. As it hit the ground though, there was a solid in it, charred sulfer was left behind, still slightly burning. Miller would have to worry about the heat and getting his skull crushed in.

The little girl giggled as Evan's eyes bulged. She tryed to stifle her laughter, but she couldn't helping and her giggle turned into a laughing fit, where she actually rolled on the ground laughing.

Little Girl: "Why is it that all the strong ones are so stupid!?"

The little girl kept laughing, her immaturity was very obvious.

Origin: "However, you're a child in my eyes."

Zaraki came against at Origin, this time Origin didn't even try to fight back with strength, he simply moved out of the way. Zaraki lashed out again, but only the air was there to greet him.

There was a quick movement, and a throwing motion. Suddenly, Miller was gone, out of the way of the crystal rain. He appeared a fair distance from Loki, and a cloud of dust kicked up from his feet as he knelt to a stop. There was a faint glint in the air, and a sharp electrical charge seared up from Miller's hand to Loki!

Miller: "..."

---------------

Evan gasped at the girl's sudden burst of speed, and her assertion that she had beaten Shen. This was, of course, while catching her foot in a ham-sized fist that made its way to his face and twisting it to the side. It was no use, though... She managed to flip over his head and kick him from behind, in response to which he staggered forward. He whirled around and the kick that was going for his arse went for his crotch instead.
