Well, I'm on a work machine now so I can look up IE.

Click on Internet Explorer
Go to Tools and Internet Options
Click on the Security tab
Highlight the Internet (which has an icon of the globe) and then click on Custom Level
Down the bottom of that window there should be a drop down box called Reset Custom Settings. Make a note of what it currently is (so you can change back later) and then set it to Low
Click OK, and OK again.

Then go test and see if you're still having the problem with Windows Media Player.

Note: I make no guarantees of this working; it's just that I know that I have to do this every time I need the codec for Computer Boy

Open IE, go to the options, and lower the security level. Make sure you put it back when you're done. You'd best do this when WMP isn't running.

Pretty much everything that displays web content in Windows does so through IE, so it's a safe bet your problem lies within it when these things don't work.

I'm not sure, but I think Windows Media Player has settings linked into Internet Explorer. I've had some moderate luck with lowering security settings in IE when I've needed to download codecs for files in WMP before -- give that a go.

Just remember to set your Internet Explorer Security Settings back afterwards !

"You must change your Privacy settings in Tools, Options to update information about the audio media you have selected."

It says this when i try to update media info

I go to privacy but there are 2 boxes which can't be ticked (dim gray shadded) called

'display media information from the internet'
'update music filies by retriving media info from the internet'

Any solution?
