Unless you start going insane with the tabs, or doing something really crazy like going to a page that uses Java, Firefox isn't anywhere NEAR the resource whore that Netscape is, and if it's configured properly, Firefox is still twice as fast as any other browser.
And if you don't have 80MB of ram to spare, upgrade your system. I have over 500 MB free right now, and that's with two programs over the 100 MB mark (and Firefox over 70, but I have tabs open).

As for bugs, the only thing I've ever noticed are a few bad CSS renders, and the fact that if you have too many tabs open (my record is something like 130), they go off the edge of the tab bar. Would it really be that hard for them to add scroll buttons?

Roge's Yahoo Browser, as HH said, is Internet Explorer, reskinned to look like Rogers/Yahoo had something to do with its creation.
I know this because many ISPs do the exact same thing.

Either way, whatever incarnation it is, IE still fails for no tabs.

It's not speed he has a problem with, it's his browser or something. I still don't understand what "Roger's Yahoo Browser" is. And if nobody here has heard of it, it more than likely isn't beneficial to your computer. Just my thoughts.

Well, Windows says it's using 38,384K of memory right now, and I have no tabs open. There is a trick you can use to make it use less memory, but it goes slower. Firefox is on the slow side, but version 0.2 or something (it was called Firebird back then) was ridiculously fast. However, Firefox worked fine without freezes on my Pentium 1 computer with only 40MB of RAM. Strange.

Most 'bugs' in FF are actually in the extensions. Also, it uses a lot of RAM if you open a lot of tabs, but it doesn't appear to actually leak.

As others said, use Firefox. Adblock is what gives Firefox a nice edge. Unfortunetly, the bad news is that Firefox has a memory lleak or something, sometimes using up to 80K of RAM at a time. Opera would be better if it was free (no problem, just pirate it) and if more people made extensions for it, but...

OK, I think I see what's going on here.

I interpreted this as "I didn't download the browser, it comes with my service" - I'm guessing you interpreted it as "Rogers is the ISP, not the browser"? A quick Google shows that there is, in fact, a browser named "Rogers Yahoo Browser", which I assume comes with the service. (Sympatico comes with some special browser too, but I didn't install it. )

Either way, what's important is that his question was answered.

Yeah, I would suggest if you want IE, use IE and not this Roger Yahoo crap that's most likely just IE with a craptastic new interface. Though you can have as many browsers installed as you want. I even have both Mozilla and Firefox for testing purposes (and of course IE).
Can you, uh... Not read, or something? He said where he lived, the choices were between Roger's internet and Sympatico. Since Bell Sympatico is an ISP, any reasonable person could conclude that this Roger's Internet is an ISP as well, and while the yahoo browser thing is likely an IE variant, it's not going to interfere with whatever it was.

Uh... WTF are you trying to say exactly? He said he had "Roger's Yahoo Browser", and asked if he could use another browser without messing it up. I pointed out that he could and that since this Yahoo browser is probably just IE in a new shell, he may as well use IE instead.

Quoted for truth.

...then no, changing browsers won't screw it up. Probably.

Why?

Because it sounds like something you got off a yahoo advertisement much like the other toolbars they have, and all they do is screw with your internet settings.

What in sweet hell is "Roger's Yahoo Browser" ? o.o

It sounds evil and scary.

Well, if you switch browser you can still switch back to other browsers -- just don't uninstall them. Some web developers have MANY browsers installed to their machines and may even have multiple machines (Mac and PC Windows/Linux) so they can test their stuff in IE, IE for Mac, Safari, Konqueror, Opera, Camino, Firefox, etc, etc, etc...)

And yes, you can have more than one browser at the same time.

If I switched browsers....

1- Would it interfere with rogers yahoo browser? ( if anyone here uses it)

2- If I wanted to could I get Internet Explorer back?
