I think I just got blind.
And Koitenshin's problems with his internet provider is similar to my problems with the taxi company I travel with to my dorm and house. We have a deal that I shouldn´t pay anything to travel with them but they don´t seem to get that. We´ve told them 10 timer or so already.

Ok, today the Customer Service Supervisor called me and straightened everything out real quick especially when I mentioned these words, "breach of contract" and "class action lawsuit". They immediately dropped my dsl not from $36 to $25 but from $36 all the way down to $21 for my dsl pro until the end of June. .
ROFL! I would´ve liked to see their faces when they heard those words.

my university has a bandwidth cap not because of money issues, but rather as a mean to control piracy... |

Yeah, that's why I had to switch. Hopefully they'll realize how out-of-date bandwidth caps are and remove it. |

Holy crap that's quite a bit. Well I ave a 1 gig allowance set by my dad until i get out of school. Thats annoying... 1gig a month is quite limiting. |

bandwidth cap is one thing, download speed is another -- fortunately, SBC doesn't have a bandwidth cap, otherwise I wouldn't have choosen it as a service. I rather download slower, knowing I can download as much as I can versus knowing I can only download no more than either 4 or 8 DVDs worth of data. I run through one 25 DVD5 spindle in about three weeks |

Who knows, maybe by then a better ISP will be available. If you ever get the chance to get Cogeco and can live with a 15GB/month bandwidth limit (for $50/month, or 30GB for something like $65), do it. No shitty software required and the tech support is freaking awesome. (Also, if it's of any benefit to you, your IP only changes like once every 16 months. ) |

I remember a friend of mine who said thier customer service staff didn't have a fucking clue about anything and that AOL's "service" actualy fucked thier computer up by being like ATI's drivers. Non-removable. |

Yes I am sure it is until the end of June, they even gave me an exact date. June 28 so that is the day I will cancel and get rerated. |

are you sure it is until the end of june (i.e 6 months) and not for one year? Because I heard the same deal from SBC (same customer service call) and after 6 months, it goes back to $36... |

Yay! Too many companies try to walk all over customers, but it's good to know that they fixed this.
Then, a lot of companies count on their customers being unaware of their rights. |

This I don't doubt. Although they are not the only ISP in the world that sucks. Thankfully they were NOT the ones that overcharged me and I had to take to the TIO. That was a company called iHug.

It would be worth trying anyways, as they may be able to at least point you in the right direction if they are unable to help directly. |
