The password protection is supposed to be a kid-level, and no, if you may have noticed, the JPEG viewer *has* a password protection implented, so that's *not* the point, thank you. |

I don't think security is a major issue. I think he just wants people not to be able to open the JPEG viewer on his flashcart. |

I fail to see how that method could be very secure. Someone could run a tracer and find out the algorithm for running the password and force access to the game by modifying the code. (Unless of course, you intend to have the entire game encrypted and it would decrypt itself using the password, but I'm not sure of the viability of such a method--I say nay to that.) I would just encrypt the zip file. |

Originally posted by Bio What I mean is - you turn on your GBA. You select a game from the Flash Card Menu, GBA boots the game - a screen shows up with "Please enter password." If entered correctly, you continue to the game. I'm looking for a program that will allow you to add such a password protection to GBA files, so when flashed on a card, the above will happen. Thanks in advance :) |

Have you tried GBAtemp?. They'd probably be able to tell you reasonably definitively if such a program existed or not. (edit: looks like you'll have to register to view/post).
Writing one wouldn't be too hard, I guess, it'd just take a bit of time to code the input routine (unless you could borrow the source from someone else). Or - even simpler - stuff text input altogether and just set a certain button sequence to start the game. |

yeah, I dont think its the easiest thing to do...if you dont want anyone playing it, just make a pass protected zip file, and put it in there...otherwise it would most likely take quite a bit of GBA programming, |

I'm not sure about want you mean, but, putting them in a password protected archive (like .zip) will be easier than program a password in the GBA rom |

Pardon me if this is the wrong place, and I ventured too far.. Tried finding any FAQs and Rules against posting here but.. If I make a mistake, please forgive me.
I was looking for GBA utilities and stumbled across here - I'm searching for a program that adds a password "intro" when loading a rom. I use a X-rom512 and it's nice, but there are some *.gba's I want to keep private/saves I want not to be overwritten. I want to know if there is such a program that will add a password check to a *.gba file, so when running it on a GBA you will have to input a password before running the game. Thank you in advance for any replies. (blatant crosspost :3) |
