I checked for XP in the IconMenu code, negative. I'll look into ExpBar now...

Update: the only instance of "style" in the Explorer Bar code is in the ExplorerBarStyles enum.

What else in the program might cause a "XP Styles not supported" error? Win98 doesn't know about XP to begin with to my knowledge. That sounds like a custom error description. By chance is that text lingering in the source code somewhere?

Not that I would ever accuse someone of using code they didn't even look at, but such things certainly do happen.

There was absolutely NO reason to create a new thread seeking help on this when the original thread was made a few hoursa go. Don't do it again.

"Despite lack of co-operation from Windows and VB, this control implements an Explorer Bar which can be used on any OS to manage a series of links and/or controls in a neat graphical interface." -- From VBAl's Explorer Bar page, emphasised.

In the IconMenu control source, I could find no reference to shadows and no relevant version checks. In fact, GetVersion is a red herring.

If the program does anything at all that requires WinXP/2K, then that'd be a good place to start debugging for problems on Win98.

I disagree. Those menu graphics are as fake as Office's are. All they do that requires XP/2K is their shadow, and vbAccellerator stuff is known to degrade gracefully.

Even the "blue bar on text, button outline on image" style is a fake. Best you can get without faking is "full-width blue bar with inverted image" style, like in Explorer when you highlight WinRar/Zip's items.

It's because of the fancypants graphics you used for the menus:

Strange error. Never seen one like that before.

How is it a bump if the sappy thread was only posted like today?

The reason that i could not post in the original thread is
I do NOT bump threads right now! now, on topic:

Sappy will not work on Windows 98 of this error:
____________________________________________
Run-time Error '-2147220452 (8004041)'

XP Styles not supported on this windows installation.
____________________________________________

I (We) need a Windows98 version of the NEW Sappy
because it only supports Windows XP (2000/NT?)
