But remember: this was made mostly to piss of Dharakcos or however you spell his name. I'd personally rather have a built-from-scratch hex editor in VB than a "stolen" one in Delphi.

uhh...sorry to say that wont piss me off ...and I dont think anything will lol...besides, technically its not stolen, its a delphi component that has the source, and everything so if I wanted to I could make one from scratch using that as a guide and besides, mine doesnt require any extra things downloaded

oh, and ill also have another release ready soon, customizable colors, table loading, and whatever else I can add to it.

Posts: 18/111		 Something I would find very useful is yet another Relative Search kind of option (with the option to "skip" values, for help with interlaced values), and also the thing that MathOnNapkins mentions that would also help with interlaced values.

And also something that will load files bigger than 4MB . Then it shall be a great replacement to Translhextion.

I currently use Hex Workshop for all my dirty work now but lack a good relative searching tool .

Agree with what, that I'm not allowed to express my honest opinion about the potential usefullness of a utility? And can you please explain to me why not, because I must have missed the memo that said we're supposed to lie about shitty projects we see released here and hold everyone else's cock in a big happy circle jerk where we raise each other's self esteem.

Anyway, everyone who thinks a basic program that can only edit hex values, has no features, and furthermore requires special VB runtimes to be used is a useful utility and will be switching to it soon, please raise your hand.

Yah, that's what I thought. The program isn't useful, I'm not going to apologize for pointing out the obvious. There are already shitloads of other hex editors of various complexities and levels of professionality so I hardly think another one is necessary. If you're just looking get more programming experience, i'd say continue developement. Otherwise it's not worth it to continue coding.

Posts: 69/181		 It kind of sounds like a useless program really. I mean there already much more sophisticated .tbl ready hex editors that don't require it's users to have some special crappy vb runtimes. I would also appreciate some screenshots considering it doesn't run under wine.

Posts: 207/1353		 So yeah. Dharackos or however you spell it released a "hex editor" made by some german guy that's not Dhrak himself, and I mentioned an earlier attempt to write one from scratch... so here ya go.

Kawa's Hex Editor Thingy

Features:
* Basic support for tables, but an ASCII table is hardcoded for now.
* 32-bit scrollbar in VB? Yes sir.
* Aside from said scrollbar and the commondialog class, completely self-made.

The scrollbar needs the vbAccellerator Subclassing and Timer Assistant, if you have VB6 installed you can register it from there simply by referring to it in a dummy project, or you can wait for Sappy 2005 which auto-registers all.
