Moby: Hotel
This proves that no matter what Moby does, he does well. Granted, I wasn't expecting this. That doesn't make it bad. I still love this album as much as Play and 18, but the real selling point of this is the beautiful and awe-inspiring feat of Hotel: Ambient. Each piece in this is a masterpiece. Easily his best electronic musical work of all time. It's 26 songs of pure ecstacy.

In my book, Demon Days really takes the cake... ever since I got a hold of the CD I at least listen to parts of it every day... infact I'm listening to it right now! It just never gets old.

You'd be about the only one to still have that place.

I, on the other hand, feel a deep and palpable sense of dispair and betrayal for what the architects of Blue Album and Pinkerton have become.

Kinda like My friend the Weezer fanatic

KMFDM - Hau Ruck = <3

Disappointing year for black metal. Although Amon Amarth's Fate of the Norns was supposedly decent

In no paticular order:
Sigur Ros: Takk... - wow... just wow.
Death Cab For Cutie: Plans - I never heard of this band until a friend loaned me this CD. I've been listening to it almost constantly since. Buy it now.
Fall Out Boy: From Under The Cork Tree: see above.
Bloc Party: Silent Alarm
HIM: Dark Light: I liked 'Love Metal' better, but this one had some great tracks as well. Especially if you got the special 'internet only' edition.
Bright Eyes: Motion Sickness (Live): 'Old Soul Song' = awesome. 'nuff said.
EDIT: I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT TO MENTION:
Jack's Mannequin: Everything In Transit

I liked Commit This To Memory, but it wasn't one of the best albums. The track quality petered off towards the end.

The album that I thought was the best however was A Healthy Distrust, by Sage Francis.
His first album on a major label, and every track hits home its message with authority. Great beats, great lyrics per the usual, and just great overall.

Not sure if they all came out in 2005, but these are my 2005 albums.

1. Falloutboy - From Under The Cork Tree

This is my summer of 2005 album.. and probably everyone elses. It describes my whole summer, in full detail. I can't even explain it if I tried.

2. Mesmerize/Hypnotize - System of A Down

His vocals are more cracked out than ever.. and I'm loving it. His vocals are like.. Frank Zappa-ish in some of the songs. I think it's so different.. and just.. amazing.

3. Motion City Soundtrack - Commit this to memory

Such an overlooked album.... but it's absolutely amazing. It makes me want to dance my pants off.

4. The Mars Volta - Frances The Mute

Do I really need to say anything? Ah-mazing.

5. Rasputina - Cabin Fever/Frustration Plantation/Thanks for the Ether/How We Quit The Forest/A radical recital

Yes, I discovered the amazingness of Rasputina this year. I've gotten all of their CD's and Melora Creager is my personal goddess. No, none of these came out in 2005 EXCEPT for their Live Album "a Radical Recital".. so that's why it's included. Melora Creager is even my avatar.. woohoo.

6. The Shins - Think it's self titled?

Yeah, amazing. It's mellow and dancy and uplifting. The lyrics are very random too. Like he just splattered words over a song... I love it.

7. From First To Last - Dear Diary, My Teenage Agnst Has A Body Count.

Sonny's vocals are amazing. The breakdowns are ugh.. make me want to dance in 10 different ways. Amazing album.

8. Weezer - Make Believe

All the songs except for "Beverly Hills" are amazing. I'll always have a place in my heart for Weezer.

9. Death Cab For Cutie - Plans

Amazing album. From the first song to the last.

10. Blink-182... Self-Titled

This definatly isn't 2005.. but this has been the album of my last three years.. including 2005. The last songs make me cry every single time.. starting from "always" to the end. I love this album though... it's effing AMAZING.

Yeah, commentary = not so good.
Those are my albums of 2005 though.

Killswitch Engage-The End of Heartache

I believe this came out in late 2004, if not early-mid 2005, but anyways, this is a great album for listeners of the newer metal-core genre. The first song that attracted me into checking this album out was "The End of Heartache" (title track) off the Resident Evil: Apocalypse soundtrack. I later moved onto songs like "Rose of Sharyn" and "Take This Oath" and loved every track of this album since. Like the latter album I am about to mention, however, this is not for people who aren't immunized to hearing consistent screaming lyrics and minimal ACTUAL vocals/singing (though this next one does better in that respect)...

Demon Hunter-the Tryptic

I just bought this album today and I love it. If you can look past the croaking/moaning/screaming voice that make up a decent portion of the songs on this album (save for the choruses, which more than compensate for it), and if you are a fan of metal-core, this is a must buy. Who knows? The "dark-toned" nature this CD supposedly ingests may not be all that it's hyped up to be. I hear they're Christian-metal like POD (not to say their lyrics are Christian-like in any way, but the band themselves are). And there's also some alter. rock-metalcore mixed songs which might ease the pain up a little bit if you're not a fan of this type of music.

Seether-Karma and Effect

This album for me started with "Remedy" which I first heard off the radio and got hooked on it. The song eventually lost it's grip, but I was encouraged to listen to more. It took a few listens, but eventually I began to like "Goodbye Cruel World", "Burrito" "The One" "Truth" and "Because of me" and I love this album. Not something that keeps it's quality when listening to on a consistent basis, but gradually switching off to hear this album, at some point, might catch some ears.

Those are some, and the only ones I will bother to go into detail to at the moment.

Just got the new Aerosmith Double CD set for x-mas. Pretty decent, a mix of old and new stuff with a few live cuts. Sweet Emotion live was damn good.

I hear that Wolfmother got nothin' on Witchcraft, but since I haven't really paid attention to either, I can't state that as my own opinion. Just thought I'd get that out there...

This is the closest to a top 10 as I can think of (not absolutely sure about it, but #1 definitely belongs there):

10. PIG - Pigmata
9. Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth
8. Cephalic Carnage - Anomalies
7. Cave In - Perfect Pitch Black
6. Strapping Young Lad - Alien
5. Solefald - Red for Fire: An Icelandic Odyssey Part 1
4. Sigh - Gallows Gallery
3. Andrew Bird - The Mysterious Production of Eggs
2. Foetus - Love
1. Coil - The Ape of Naples

By the way, SikTh's new album will dump all over any other album in 2006. Forget all other albums, especially metal albums. SikTh is a winner.

4. The Spinto Band - Nice and Nicely Done

3. Bloc Party - Silent Alarm

It will be out very soon, and I am so excited.
That's about all I can say thus far. MARK YOUR CALENDARS.

I already got it by other means.

Sounds pretty good from what I have heard so far. I have the album Is This it and this one. I need to get Room on Fire

I haven't really listened to it well enough to compare it to the first one though...

If it kicks ass. It's a buy.
