I found Elfin Lied boring. Maybe it was the gratuitous nudity in the beginning that turned me off, but I didn't really like it. It didn't make sense to me, I kinda stopped watching around ep. 5, like Paranoia Agent.
Jeez, Akira, EL, and now PA... I'm on a horrible hate streak tonight. |

The OAV wasn't pointless.
The first half was, sure, but the flashbacks were very interesting. Or at least I thought so. But they need to put out a box set already. Unfortunately the series is over, but incomplete (like several other animes), so you have to read the manga in order to get the full story. Still, the anime is definately worth watching through. The last episode had me on the verge of tears all the way through. Though for anyone who hasn't seen it, I should point out that there are a few fairly disturbing parts, (incidentally, the gratuitous violence counts as some of the least disturbing content compared to.. other things) and some people might not have the stomach for some of it. Incidentally, since noone's mentioned it yet, the OAV/Extra/DVD Special/Episode 14/whatever you want to call it takes place between episodes 10 and 11, not after episode 13. |

Anyone ever seen this? My friend saw the first episode on Anime Network, and told me about it. He came over last night, and we downloaded every single episode (Subed thank god) in 200MB AVI format. We arent done watching em, but man! This is great! The story line really pieces together smoothly, and so many things try to throw you off, and really work. This is an amazing work of art.
Aside from alot of nudity, this Anime is pure greatness, and anyone should watch it. One question, is it really only 14 episodes if anyone knows? Thats what one site told us, but my internet is so fucked right now because of what is believe to be a mass router outage in New York, and I keep getting stuck at those (Tracert). Nyuu? |
