Perhaps, but the KDE devs have already started to make a Windows native version in the CVS, and they said there's a good chance KDE4 will have native Windows port available for download. |

Last time I used Linux, I was using something called XFCE... since Gnome and KDE took too much RAM for my tastes (This was on a old computer, 1998 or something).
I wonder if someone would port over KDE to Windows as a alternate shell... probably more trouble than it's worth though. xD |

Between Knome and KDE, I'd have to agree. Seriously, something doesn't feel right about Gnome. |

KDE and Gnome don't stand up against the awesome power of Fluxbox! Fluxbox is awesome. |

Heh, I've seen the fanboys... and the saddest thing is that Linus Torvalds doesn't really agree with free software/open source ideals either, he'd use a proprietary system in a heartbeat if he thought it had a feature he wants. Hell, the only reason he made Linux free software in 1992 (opposed to being made in 1991 but non-free) was because Richard Stallman gave him a swift kick that the GNU OS he was plugging Linux onto was free, and his kernel should be free too. (more irony.. he thinks RMS hates Linux due to the whole GNU/Linux naming debate, while RMS uses ... GNU/Linux, surpise!)
Linus only make Linux free because if he didn't, he'd have to make a whole operating system (which some people mistakenly think he did, which he didn't by any shot), and that wasn't someting appealing to him. I credit Linus to starting off the kernel Linux, but I disagree with almost everything else of his. |

I said some, not most. I've met quite a few Linus Torvalds fanboys in my day. |

i believe if this was the general public, you may be right--however, people who use linux are not as ignorant as windows users can be so I do not think just because someone of tarvalds' notoriety is enough to get them to change their ways.
i use what works for me, not because someone else tells me to do so... |

The sad thing is that some Linux users might actually feel compelled to do it, just b/c of who he is. |

I don't agree with his attitude, but I do wtih his choice of desktop environment GNOME and KDE both are excellent, and it's not upon anyone to force anyone to use either, or either at all (there are more things than GNOME and KDE in the world). |
