You could use RIP and use this command: dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdb bs=32k (the bs (blocksize) is actually optional, but it goes faster with a larger one to a certain point (32k is almost always good))

There is a tool by seagate called discwizard that has such a utility, but I've never tried it (I used it to reformat a hard drive..)

should work on all hard drives, not just seagate drives. at least it did on my computer.

You supposedly have to format the second hard drive and select the boot drive option. I don't know, I haven't tried it, and can't guarantee thats what it does, but it's what I got from the program.

You can no longer download the iso from seagate, however (discontinued, they are making a new version), so I'll provide a direct link to the iso (right click, save as):
http://download.opendrivers.com/drv/storage/seagate/DWSE_EN.ISO

well, I figure formatting the second drive won't do any damage so long as you only copy the first one. I believe the option I told you about exists for the sole purpose of what you want.

hope that helps...

I need to clone my Windows Boot Partition from HD1 onto HD2 so that I can swap out HD1 and replace it with HD2 as if the boot partition was always on HD2 to begin with. What is the best program that I can use out there to do it? Or is there a process I can undertake? Through recommendations, I want to avoid Norton. I'm having difficulty finding an open source solution as the only software I know related to partitioning is gparted--but that is not what I want (I don't think). Credit will be given on the PS2/Linux server HD1 is going to move into.
