What HyperHacker said.

If they abuse the attachment feature, it can be disabled.

Ruining it for everyone for one fuckup is bad.

Besides, not everyone wants to use these hosting services. Uploading it to the board is easier and it won't be replaced with "BANDWIDTH EXPIRED" or stupid ads.

I'd say images attached to posts are better than scaled-down thumbnails of thumbnails with "click here to visit SomeStupidImageHost" scrawled over them and every one of them linking to the site in question, images that have been "removed due to excessive bandwidth usage" or expired, and especially images that are replaced with ads the first time you view them. If reminding someone that attached files should be related to the post doesn't stop them from attaching random images to every post, then perhaps their ability to post should be reconsidered.

We should not even allow images to be uploaded as attachments. There are much better image hosts out there so there's no point in uploading it here.

I think a lot of total dumbasses see the Attachments part and then put in an image they want as a signature, be it a stupid image or a banner.

Maybe put something in the faq and/or disable it until you have so many posts?
