You get GCC with the 'Apple Developer Tools' package, which has XCode and a whole bunch of other things. It's worth the 1gb.

And yes, Xcode IS godly. Wrapping up Java applications in an OSX application bundle is handy too.

The obvious solution is to free up some space on your hard disc.

its not out of space really it just has a little over like the ammount Xcode requires. Xcode is like about a gigabyte of space and I have 1.5GB at the moment.

Well... if you're computer is out of space, then what makes you think you will be able to install a Visual Basic type program...

???

GCC is included with the 'Apple Developer Tools' package. It's on one of your OSX discs if you bought the OS separately from your mac (Upgrade or whatever), or you can download it from Apple's website if you're using the version of the OS that came with your mac.

I don't believe it is installed initially though. I remember installing 10.3 and I had to use the utility CD to install a package with all the compiling tools.

I would recommend you have a look at iusethis for software. I personally have no need for a compiler, but that site should help you find one, and read other people's comments on them.

We do not hold hands, but here is the answer to everything. If you can't find it there, you're doing it wrong.

I need a C compiler for the mac as well as some tutorials for the C language. Maybe not the tutorials but I need a compiler because I cant find anything useful and I would like to start writing some programs after learning the language.
