There are plenty of SNES games that don't use expansion chips.  Or they could simply emulate those as well. |

This really isn't that impressive. Look at the specs. Doesn't even use the real processors, it couldn't even use a variation? If the patent is up, why not go the whole way. If the system is inaccurate enough that things need to be EMULATED then it isn't worth my money, thats why I download free EMULATORS for a computer.
I would assume the patent on the SPC700 chip is up too, and considering a quick google search makes it entirely possible to still obtain this part reasonably, even a clone that reproduces its instruction set wouldn't be THAT hard for them to do. I don't know ;\ I'm just not really feeling this one. I'll stick to my own console clone projects and leave these for the masses who don't know any better. |

I honestly can't believe how everyone is somehow shocked and amazed at this thing. People have been making Famiclones for years and years and years. The fact that this houses two in a single casing is nothing surprising. |

Yikes.
Maybe you can still find an official top loading NES somewhere. Last time I went into a Vintage Stock they were teh cheap. I replaced my oldschool NES as soon as they came out and have been thankful for it ever since. |

Fuck it. I was excited but the Wiki clearly states that the NES sound emulation is less then perfect. I want to play Tecmo Super Bowl again DAMNIT and I want it to sound perfect! (I bought a new connector for my NES, but I fucked it up by not cleaning the contacts on my games thus destroying the connector) |

Flea markets are a good source, also. A lot of times there are vendors who don't sell at such things full time but only do it once in a while to get rid of things.
You can get games and action figures and whatnot for nice prices this way a lot of the time. Garage/yard sales are usually worth spending 5-10 minutes in driving and browsing as well. |
