Very nice to see some more love for the first game in the series. I don't get what's so great about Mega Man 2. I mean, sure, it has that amazing Wily 1 music, but beside that, there are much better Mega Man games. What is it about the game that people like so much?

I bought Mega Man 1 (NES) the same day as it got released, and thats by far the game i have played most of them.

Long story short, Megaman 2 and 3, Megaman and Bass, the first three of the Megaman X series, and the first two battle networks.

Megaman X was cool before it got all those other characters in it. Like a better version of the original series with an improved story, and robots of animals instead of ?-Man robots. MMBN is starting to turn into Pokemon in a sense, what with all that multiple version crap, but the first two were good. Megaman and Bass was a great game, as it had a good collectable system and two characters who are different in more than just looks. Megaman 2 and 3 win for nostalgia value.

MM3 for NES will probably always be my favorite, with MM2 close behind.

That's about them just slapping the console Anniversary Collection description on the GBA Anniversary Collection because they're retarded.

The Anniversary Collection features an extensive selection of Mega Man games, ranging from Mega Man 1 through Mega Man 8.

What´s that about then?

Wtf, they'll release it next year. I don't know when but...hmm, wait a minute.

This isnt the GB games. Weird. But it is a megaman collection.

I didn´t know that Megaman Mania wasn´t released.

I VERY much doubt that Feb 15, 2006 date is in any way official.

You're wrong, those are the GB games, they were to be colored for this GBA compilation. And Megaman Mania was simply the old name for the GBA Anniversary Collection, prior to the name change in February 2004. On that note, there's been no official word about the game since August of 2004, when it was slated for a Nov. 9 2004 release date.

Bah, go ahead and vote; some of us also voted for large numbers of them.

Again, regarding Rockboard, it was in the poll when I made it, but because it had an apostrophe in it (That's Paradise), it isn't showing on the poll list. Xkeeper has yet to fix that issue, it seems, and editpoll doesn't work.

And I had forgotten that Quint is also in Rockboard, but then again it's been a while since I've last played it. I intend to get a Famicom soon, so I'll finally be able to play the copy of it I bought last year. Whoo.

Sorry for not jumping into this thread sooner, I just typically don't like these favorite game polls

For the Quint discussion earlier in the thread: Quint was also in Rockboard, which is missing from this poll.

And for the Gameboy games: Yes, 1-4 all had unique near-end bosses (Enker, Quint, Punk, Ballade) and the four of them reappeared in MM5GB (or rather copies of them did, storyline-wise), though weaker than their previous incarnations. It's a shame the GBA Mega Collection never got released, as it was going to have all five GB games...

As for the poll itself, I'm not going to bother voting. I'd have to vote for about half of 'em

That´s exatcly like me. I mean, there was hard moments in all Megaman games (okay, maybe not), but not that hard to get me frustrated.

I´m still waiting for that.

I thought the dragon was pretty easy. The Heat Man popping block section without Item 2 is a pain, though.

I can't really think of any particularly difficult Mega Man things (that is, difficult enough to have stuck in my mind). I do remember thinking the Sigma virus in MMX2 was tough way back when, but then I played it again more recently and thought it was fairly easy. Mega Man X7, on the other hand, totally pissed me off. That's gotta be THE most frustrating Mega Man game ever created. The play control was the biggest issue for me, and it caused me to die many, many, MANY fucking times when battling Red. UGH! And Sigma was really hard for me, too, but I did find that fight to be one of the most fun parts in the game.

Anyone played Matrixz's Mega Man 5 Time Attack hack? I found it to be fairly enjoyable; it's really fun to try to up your times and compete with other people. I remember getting to be rather good at Star Man's stage, and also constantly playing the stage where you fight Dark Man (Proto's Castle's 4th stage, I think it is) over and over and over against Matrixz, since we kept on beating each other's times. I'm interested to hear what times people in this thread can get.

Me too, I always get hit by his fire and fall off.

My votes are going to all the games in the Megaman Battle Network series. My favorite out of those is Megaman Battle Network 2. When it comes to the series on a whole, I don't know what it is about them (possibly the story), but after playing one of the games for an hour or so, I find it hard to not pick up the game again within another hour. The reason the second game is my favorite is because it's not nearly as complex as the games that come after it (what with the addition of souls, tournaments and such), and other reasons that don't come to mind right now.

Actually, I'm not going to vote for Megaman Battle Network, as I can't stand that one. Doing stuff in the real world is alright, but having to navigate the different areas of the 'net (the ones numbered from 1 to 16) is horrible. The pinkish background, narrow paths, and all around design of the areas is just bad. Perhaps if I'd played that game first, as opposed to starting with the second one, I might think differently, but that's not the case.

On a completely unrelated note, the achievement I'm most proud of with those games is beating Megaman Battle Network 4 (either version) 3 times, within one day. That's using an emulator, so I can use savestates and cheats to set each virus's health to 1, but that aside, one playthrough takes me about two hours.

For the record, my votes are going towards the following:

:: Megaman Battle Network 2
:: Megaman Battle Network 3
:: Megaman Battle Network 4
:: Megaman Battle Network 5

That's about it

Ok so which game had the hardest challenge within a level and what challenge would that be? For example, I would have to say getting across the pit in Megaman 2, (Heat Man's stage) via the disappearing blocks and not device #2 is insanely hard.

Hmm, out of all of them, I'd probably say MM3. MMX2 was also really good, and I really enjoyed the Battle Network series. Didn't really get into Zero, Legends or any of the other ones.

Vote goes to MM3

I would say megaman and bass. I always found the game near impossible but i also really enjoyed playing it. I rist played it on the SNES and then afterwards got it on the gba. However i do like the battle network series

MMX. The first MM game I ever played, and it took me years to get past Rangda Bangda, then another few years to beat Sigma and then Velguarder. MMZ3 is also good, but I didn't vote for it.

I found that the Mega Man series were a lot more enjoyable than the X series. I thought the challenge was more in the Mega Man series because you did not have any armor upgrades. Granted that's what I found fun in the X series but the X games were a little too easy for me.
