Oh god, I'm starting to think you need to go on a course or something, honestly. There is a lot you don't know and given you're asking questions you're not one of those... people that really tinkers with things a lot to find out, are you? A course should get you grounded on all of this kind of stuff and then you'll be free to do lots of nifty things.
Do you have a second partition or anything on your computer with a lot of free space on it? I have a D:\ drive for example that I use as my scratch disk. If you don't, your only solution is to clear up a LOT of free space on C:\ Photoshop likes lots and lots of free space. LOTS. |

Okay now can you help me with my "full scratch disk" problem? I did what the help topic on Photoshop told me and it didn't work so I am deleting useless files now.
Edit2:second problem eliminated scratch disk problem still at large Edit3: I have enhanced the allowed RAM that Photoshop may use to store stuff as a temporary attempt for it to last awhile but 1 last question.... it says something about I need to defrag the scratch disk to also aid in its working and I have never done that could someone aid me at that and thank you for listening to my problems as I am grateful for how many problems you have solved. |

When you start up Photoshop and make a new canvas, the first layer is normally locked and you cannot do anything with it. The solution is to just make a new layer over it. Problem solved. |

Thanks guys that help really did the trick I hope when I have problems in the future you will be able to assist me because that really did the trick
Edit: no wait now it says the layer is locked is there a way to unlock layers? Edit2: if not then I can still put layers over it Edit3: Now I cannot crop the image because it says the scratch disk is full how do I empty it or at least overcome that problem? |

Well, I hope it's the right advice. To be perfectly honest, I hope that the problem is what I think it is.
Course, I like to see exact error messages when people are having problems, not vague "it was something like" descriptions of error messages later.... I'm getting better and better at guessing though, what with my line of work (Help Desk). |

Mess around with Image -> Mode -> RGB, maybe. I'm pretty sure that if you rip something from a game, it'll be indexed color instead, which won't work for what you want.
EDIT: Tarale beat me to it. Good advice, eh? |

Curse you, you made me actually have to open Photoshop so I can give you the exact wording of the menu items to change the colour information.
Go to Image then Mode and make sure it is on RGB Colour. If it won't allow you to create layers you are probably on something like Indexed Colour... |

Yea but thats the problem! It won't let me edit it or put another layer upon it until its "8-bit RGB" or somethin I will have to suffice with self made backgrounds until I can fix the problem. |
Tarale Posts: 2606/2713 |
Why do you want it on the background? I assume it's creating it as another layer? Layer 1 or such?
Is it because you have stuff you want on top of it? Then put that stuff on a layer above Layer 1! I don't like the Background layer. |

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I have a question that no tutorial would assist in. I found some backgrounds of SMW 2 that I want to use. But for some reason the Photoshop program will not let me drag images onto the background, and yet I can still draw on the background.. Can anyone explain why or at least explain how to go around that problem?
Edit: I found the problem it says I need to change it to 8-bit RBG (RGB? I dunno) color now does anyone know how to do that and thanks for your help in return Edit2: Yea its RGB Edit3: Problem still existant still requesting assistance |
