If I were you I would just buy a Wii. It's the cheapest of them all....although the accessories are a bit expensive if you want multiple of each. |

Anti-trust suit ala Nintendo? |

I haven't seen a $100 price point for a game here since Final Fantasy III (SNES), but it wouldn't surprise me.
When is Sony going to figure out the exact supply/demand ratio? |

Originally posted by AilureOriginally posted by PrincessPeachYeah, some people miss this when they do price compersations. I may say that a little different. Prices for European Countries state, what you, the consumer, flat out pay. Prices for NTSC-enabled Countries state, what you could pay, if there wouldn't be more taxes. On a side note, here in Switzerland, we have a Vorgezogene Recycling Gebühr für Elektrogeräte, loosely translates as a prepaid recycling fee for electronic devices. So if it brakes or you just want to get rid of it, you can do it free at any store which sales electronic goods (in that size, that is). And no, it was included in the listed price of CHF 398.- for my Wii (about USD 317.50). |

It might be a powerful console, but I don't trust the durability of it. And then we have all the stupid stuff Sony does... |

Nope. The Wii is region locked.
As for PS3, it is region locked for PS1 and PS2 games (wtf?) and Blu-Ray/video playback. |

I heard they dropped the price in Japan right at launch, but I don't recall where though. That's probably old news anyway. Also, Wii News (surprise!) had a long article about Sony's profits dropping 5% from the PS3 launch.
Originally posted by FreeDOS + Hm, I'm pretty sure my Wii manual says it has region coding. I seriously hope that's some sort of mistake. |

It's also funny to see that stores here will put up signs if the Wii's out of stock but not if the PS3 is.
That price drop can't come soon enough. |

I don't mind my sales taxes
But seriously, Sony fucked up bad on this whole thing. You'd imagine that they should have learned from watching MS botch the 360 and got a lesson on how to manage a launch from the PS2 and PSP. Yeesh. And the way that the company is handling it is just wretched. Well, I guess market domination is probably going to go to MS for quite sometime. Although the Wii is doing wiicked.lololololol shoot me. |

Tax rates in Canada vary from province to province.
The entire country has a 6% GST rate (Goods and Services tax), which brings it up to $741 CDN for a Ridge Racer. And on top of that, most provinces have a Provincial Sales tax (PST). Alberta doesn't, and that's where I live, so *shrug* BC's PST was 7% when I lived there, so that would be about $790, though it may have gone down since I moved. I neither know nor care what it is in other provinces. |

Do games retail higher there too or something? |
Cynthia Posts: 5681/5814 |
They adjusted the price of the PS3 in Canada... from $659 to $699.
The comedy continues. |

Sony is like everyone else in the 7th gen, there's no regions on the PS3. |

They should totally just come by and sweep up all these extra systems here in USA and give them out in UK. It would have came out faster there if it weren't for us getting stock piled with all of it. |
