Well mame plus doesn't detect some games I have like Street Fighter Alpha 2. At the height of my mame obsession, I remember I had like 7 different types of mame32, because most of the games I downloaded came with their own working mame app. It happened with all those games that weren't part of the original mame romsets.(e.g. metal slug 4, 5, king of fighters 2003, etc.)

Wouldn't you just use Plus then?

There might be a few games which end up broken in a MAME release yet work on an unofficial one, but some games aren't emulated on MAME because of copyright reasons/they've been released too recently. The code's in there, but you have to use an unofficial build to run them.

I use Mame32 and Plus! because there are some roms on the regular that don't work on it that DO work on Plus. Radiant Silvergun and Raiden Fighters, for example, only work on mame32 plus for me.

Okay i realize this is an old topic but I figgured i would ask my question here rather than making a new topic all its own. I use Mama 32 and Mame 32 Plus. Either one i use has the same problem. The sound for the games is very soft, and the emulator's volume is turned all the way up. I have to turn my external speakers way higher than I use for anything else on my computer, which causes a real porblem if the computer makes some other noise (like MSN or an error beep) as it will be deafeningly loud. Is this a Plugin problem? Do i need to adjust some hidden setting somewhere? If anyone has had this problem or heard of it and has a solution please share it with me as I would like to have it squared away.

One of the few but most useful features of Mame 32 Plus is the autofire option (tab during gameplay to activate it through the menu). It's ver useful for gamepads that doens't have turbo or have a sluggy one . I'm not sure, but Mame 32 plus has cheats included by default, but you can add them to any mame distro by adding the cheat.dat to the mame directory (Tab again to bring the menu for activating them)

I have been using mame32 and I love it. The only probelem ive had with it is it doesnt recognize my joypad... does anyone else have a problem (and fix) for this. ive never heard of Mame 32 plus, will it have an easier time with my joypad? if you think it might please hit me with a link.

I still use MAME32, but I've used MAME32 Plus! enough to know there's barely a difference on my machine. I thought that Plus! supposedly was optimized for some purpose, I can't really deny or confirm that...but I'm pretty sure Zophar said something about it a while ago in their emu section for it.

MAME original is DOS-based. I wouldn't use it unless you like command-line.

Different features.

For all intents and purposes, MAME and MAME32 are the same although MAME32 is much easier to use because it has a GUI and other fun stuff. MAMEPlus just has extra features and I think it's updated a little more frequently than the official builds too.
