Give me a link and I may consider getting a DVD player with a media device tray.

Uh...DVD Player. Seriously. The ones that they have out now, they have media device trays (SD, XD, etc.) and places to put in memory sticks. Some even go to the U3 program that SanDisk oh so sucks for.

Get a splitter box from Radio Shack, then. 15 bucks or less and you'll have at least 4 switchable inputs for one line. Or just. You know, do what Ziff said.

Seriously, I was just about to say that myself.

What you're wanting is just going to be complicated to setup, no matter which way you go. A computer, would be simple ...

Have you ever considered a computer? They do what you're asking for and given that you don't seem to listen you'd get along well with a buggy copy of ME

Its a older VCR so it doesn't have AV inputs it only has AV outputs, she doesn't have cable either.
the 2 AV jacks are the back of the TV anyways.
Also there are is one on the front but it doesn't work anymore.

well if it's a front connection, changing inputs is not that big of a deal...if it isn't buy a splitter. Heck....you KNOW a lot of VCRs have through inputs so you can rig other devices in to them? besides, watching TV channels through an AV input?

I didn't know that's how cable worked now a days. Learn something new every day

You need a new computer one made within the last year, because they dont release a upgrade. You would also need Wi Fi router or ethernet cable to get that to work for the 360,

Also she only has one AV connection available. The other has a VCR hooked to it, also she watches tv channels through it.

With a 360 you can connect to your computers with Windows Media Center and then view all your media, whatever it may be, off your 360. Then you can put in thumbdrives or whatever you want through the USB port and view stuff like that too.

Basically, a lot of the stuff Gideon said about the Xbox, minus the whole illegitimate fact. The 360 is capable of doing all of that without modifying it a bit.

What you really want is an original XBox, hacked with a custom dashboard, bigger harddrive, and XBox Media Center on it. The downside is that it can't play burned CD discs (problem with the drives, although it will read burned DVDs), but you -can- rig up a USB connector for flash drives, and you can FTP into it to transfer stuff to it. XBMC can play and display just about any audio/video/picture format imaginable (although multiframe GIF files do not animate) without the need for Microsoft's $20 DVD remote :p Plus, you can put all sorts of emulators and homebrew on the thing, not to mention playing commercial games from the harddrive can significantly cut down on load times.

Yeah, it really seems like she'd be better off with multiple devices, since if they're all combined into one you can only use one function at a time.

For Parties, she wants a entertainment device, that can do it all, play video games, watch movies and play cds and look at images.

Why does she need a console that view jpgs on cd?

She should just buy 2 different devices, as she clearly wants 2 different things...
Or if she wants a handheld console (with SD cards and such), the GP2X can be an option...

Try a DVD player.

If you must have a game console, Xbox 360 is probably capable of this, but I'm not completely sure. I know Wii can view JPEG images and copy them, but only from SD cards. :-/

I'm looking to buy my girlfriend a video game console, but there is a requirement.
It must be able to play JPEG CD and or/or copy them to the system.
