It's actually more like a re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re make of FF I (If you include other countries)
That's why I laugh at it. (And why I think it is just stupid.) |

But the PSP was also said to be "pretty much shit unless you want it for the homebrew/emulation" and almost no one I know has one unless they use it mostly for emulating older consoles. |

So they're making a port of a GBA game that is a port of a PS1 game that is a port of a WSC game that is a remake of a MSX game that is a port of the original NES game that is based heavily on D&D?
Something seems wrong here... |

Apparently the DS is getting some kind of FFXII game.

Originally posted by Grey So Final Fantasy Tactics fits in where? I say its the best one, both in story and gameplay. The complexity in both makes it better than other ones I've played... I used to like Final Fantasy, but so far nothing has helped me regain interest in it. Last FF game I was really into was IX, and from what everyone I've talked to in real life said, they said it was crap compared to VIII (which I hate). Meh, everyone has different tastes. If they want fancy graphics, let them go ahead and get them. There is no changing people's minds. And there are those that still claim Nintendo as a "child's game" so they go with the PSP. And yes, I've seen one person play a native game for it, but otherwise it would be just music. Hell, he doesn't even use it for that anymore... |

More and more people know about emulation, though.
I've seen more people using an emulator on their PSP than I've seen people playing an actual PSP game. (Honestly, I've seen 2 or 3 people running some sort of emulator and the majority listen to music on the thing. I've never seen anyone play a native game for it but maybe the subway isn't the best place to be doing that, I dunno.) |

I think the idea of re-re-re-re-making games is just to make up for a lack of brains on the company's part.
After all, the original Mario games were only remade a few times (Super Mario All Stars, Super Mario Advance (sigh) series, etc). After a while it gets old. Besides, the PSP is practically a handheld for emulation, so people could just emulate them without buying a (probably) shitty remake. |

Originally posted by ThexareOriginally posted by Zidane Sorry, I muddled things up a bit when trying to rationalize the world connections, as I haven't thought about it in a while. Yasumi Matsuno has already said that FFXII takes place in the same world as FFTA, just in a different time period. FFXII is the "Golden Age" that FFT refers to, with many airships in the skies. All three games take place in the same world, but obviously at different times in the world's history. I could also tie in connections to FFVII and FFX. Originally posted by Thexare I don't mean to insult anyone. I just think that people could think things through a bit before bashing a game. What is so ridiculous about making a game more available to people who want to play it on the go? If you're just going to talk about how bad the game is, you could've done that years ago when the games first came out; instead of saying how bad this release will be, tell us how bad the games have always been (if you believe them to be). Otherwise, you're just pinning it on the system. Edit: Messed up a quote tag. |

I don't see what the big deal is. Did it ever occur to anyone that people who don't want a DS, but want a portable version of these games would like it? Instead, some of you make it sound like making the game available to more people or improving upon what many agree to be a good game could only harm the company. If you really want to get worked up about games that get repackaged over and over again, let's talk about Megaman, which doesn't even have any changes when rereleased.
Originally posted by Grey Not the Ivalice that you've come to know in Final Fantasy Tactics. The borders of Ivalice are ever-changing, what with all the wars its involved in. Or perhaps Squaresoft was referring to the era? However, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance does have a connection with FFT, so to say that FFXII draws a connection from FFTA is to say that FFXII has an indirect connection to FFT. Square could always come up with some way to link the two different Ivalices, even if they were on different worlds. Nevertheless, the keyword is "development," meaning that they hadn't worked everything out just yet. Besides, if you played the game, you would've definitely seen some connections. Originally posted by Stephan Reiken Ridiculous? Yes, I believe that the blinding hate for Sony products, the alteration of a retro game, or just Final Fantasy, of ACMLM users is the real reason why people in this thread don't like the idea of a modified release of a Final Fantasy to the PSP. |

Originally posted by ThexareOf course, however, "Butts lol" just doesn't bother me enough to change it. If people did not waste their time thinking about how it sounds like somebody's *gasp* body part, it would be just another name. Bartz sounds like crap anyway, so if they had come up with something better than that, I would have to reconsider my opinion.Originally posted by Dr_Death16 |

They'll add some cutting edge jokes that the internet kiddies will love.
But I'm still surprised it's coming out on the 5th, thought for sure it would be later on... oh well. 2 weeks. |

Originally posted by KailieannAgreed, wholeheartedly. I also think we would have had Cefka had the names not been altered a bit beforehand. Final Fantasy V, on the other hand, should've stuck with Butz for the releases on PSX and GBA. Bartz just isn't the same to me. |

Terra is a better name than Tina, though.
Just like Sabin is a better name than Mash, and Strago is better than Stragus. Locke is a better spelling than Lock and Relm is a better spelling than Realm, at least as far as names go. Normally I hate it when a translation changes the names, but FF6's shift actually turned out for the better, in my opinion. |
Xeo Belmont Posts: 850/1016 |
However, I'm sure it still won't be a 100% true translation, with the suggestive jokes and stuff like that the Japanese versions have always had. But most of the spelling mistakes and stuff like that were already fixed for Anthology for the PSX.
... except for poor Terra. Wasn't her true name supposed to be Tina? |
