Never heard of Hibernate being enabled but Stand By not.  I assume you've checked your power options, ensured your Shift key isn't stuck  etc.
To clarify Ailure's post: Stand By = low-power mode. Hibernate = dump memory to disk, shut off, restore where you left off next time it's turned on. (Nice for laptops.) |

Make sure your display drivers are updated. Sometimes old display drivers can prevent Standby from working.
Edit: Out of curiosity, can you choose Standby from the Shut Down menu in the Task Manager? |

For Whatever reason, my computer can't go into standby. The button usually labeled "Standby" (on the WinXP "Shut Down" menu) Says "Hibernate" instead. NOt really that important, but puzzling. Anyone know anything? |
