The free partitioning programs are often better anyhow, they have far fewer bugs prevaliant. I'd also recommend GParted.

Also, I doubt your "techie" knew what he was doing. OEM-provided recovery discs are only made for a single computer, since it pretty much copies a disk image to your hard disk; Windows pre-setup and everything. Most often, they even have a BIOS check to see if it's the intended computer or not.

You shouldn't have to go anywhere to get a disk. There are several free disk management tools available online.

The one I'm familiar with is GParted. Download the LiveCD version and burn it to a CD.

Gah...Why must I jump through hoops now? Windows 98 was so easy to install...

Ok, so I not have to go BACK to Futureshop and get this new Partition Management disk or whatever. What do I do once I have it?

Mr. McTechie forgot to tell you to set the 'bootable' flag on the main harddrive. You need a disk partition management program to do that. You could get one of many free ones to do such.

Ok, so I got this recovery disk from a computer techie, so I put it in my PC and reformatted the drive into NTFS. Then the setup loaded all the windows files onto the HDD. Then it rebooted, and told me "Primary Disk 0 not found".

FUCK. Please help me figure this out.
