Long story short, something seems to have gone wrong with the board and everyone from ID #1074 to 1255 had their user names changed to their user ID number for some bizarre reason. If this has happened to you, PM an admin with your old name and it will be taken care of ASAP. We apologize for this; no idea how it could have happened, but it did. Okay...I'm sick and tired of reading through headache-inducing posts with no discernible break between the message and the header/footer. The following are examples of what is OK and what is clearly not OK to put in those tempting little textboxes (actual message in brackets): OK. The footer is clearly the poster's name, and not part of the message. (the single dash helps a lot) Bonus points if you make the footer bold! NOT OK. Without the brackets, could YOU tell which part is the post and which is not? OK. Because the footer is a link, it's bolder and a different color than the preceding message text. Combining your message and header (and, God forbid, footer) into one long unbroken string of idiocy makes your whole post look like gibberish, and says a lot about your overall IQ. A simple < I'm going to start removing headers and footers that don't follow the above guidelines, or are otherwise obnoxious, annoying, and/or headache-inducing. The whole goal of posting on a messageboard is for other people to read your messages, not scratch their heads in confusion and run away screaming. Please keep that in mind, and help keep our lovely board confusion-free!*

There's now a new way to deal with them; you simply upload one. The max size was changed to 100x100, also; if your avatar exceeds these dimensions, it is resized proportionally until it fits. If it is under these dimensions, it is left alone (so animated GIFs still work) This was made as both a test to make sure file uploading was working properly here (it is), and to improve upon avatars and give more freedom, as the limit is no longer 60x60 or 60x* depending on thread layout (it's simply <100*100, images will not be scaled to 100x100, and will appear normal) If something breaks in the avatar system, please PM me, with details of what went wrong. The memberlist was also updated to remove the avatars and the "show bio" section, as they aren't needed (nobody used Show Bio, and avatars just made a mess of it). Further improvements (such as dropdown lists instead of links) will be coming soon, hopefully. |

Posting the #n-w logs helped us find some things: 1. Downloads over 2-MB broke things due to an error in readfile (fixed) 2. How much attention we could give specific files by simply posting them in an announcement So please, take this time to browse through the rest of acmlm.org's site, and don't forget to comment on broken, non-working, outdated downloads so we can remove them (and let us know of updates!) ...Interestingly, the 2-MB problem affected over 170 different downloads, but no one reported any problems with them  (edited by Xkeeper on 01-14-06 04:10 AM) |

Take out all the formatting, squish everything together on only a few lines, and remove all of the _POST and 'x's and you'll have the board code; much messier and overall a headache to mess with (but it can be done) On a side note, now you have a small portion of the acmlm.org source code  |
