I used to be part on the ACMLM community a year back or so. I tried to hack a few games here and there, tried hacks from others, and even tried to write out a legend for SMB3 discombobultor's data banks (you know, the whole 4A=some specific object typa of thing). I realized during all of that that I'm waaaaaaay too lazy to create my own hacks. But I still love to try out hacks from other people that are far more talented than myself!

Posted on 07-16-04 03:58 AM, in looking for rom hacks Link
hi, gang.
i'm on the look out for certain rom hacks. i'll try to make it neat so i'll put it in a list.

SMB1- i really want to see a hack version where Mario can back track in each level. That's something that has always plagued me as a kid, why can't mario go back to the begining of a stage to pick up a powerup or just to do it for fun?

SMB3- maybe a way to Fulfill my SMB1 sick pleasure would be if there was a graphics hack of SMB3 using SMB1 graphics as much as possible (I never liked the newer versions of Lakitu and the Hammer Bros.) But with SMB3 looking so damned good in the first place, why bother down grading it? I told you, I'm sick.

Kirby's adventure- Are there any hacks of this great game? I could see why it would be difficult as there are a million and three kirby sprites alone.

Tiny Toons 1- It's so simple I might be able to do it myself! I'd like to see this game get a Mario Makeover. suggestions: buster into mario, Plucky into luigi (color similarities) or princess (floating ability), furball into toad i guess, and Dizzy into DK jr maybe.

Duck Tales 1- I tried to give it a mario make over once. I was surprised how easily the enemies could swap for SMB3 baddies. However, my attempt to turn Scrooge McDuck into Toad failed miserably. BUT I REALLY LIKE TOAD!.

SO, do any of these exist already? in the works now? never happen in a million years?

To play Zelda and the Four Swords for the gamecube with multiple players it is necessary to own and utilize the GBA. However, is it possible, through careful manipulation, to use a computer GBA emulator to stand in for the real deal? if so, how? if not, call me an ignorant Power Ranger toy nobody plays with anymore.

I'm very keen on Console emulation, but know nothing about arcade Emulators. What would you suggest the best route be to obtain the Simpsons arcade game?

It's not possible to link your PC and your Gamecube together and have some GBA emulator on your PC replace the real thing, not for now anyway.

SWEET! didn't think anybody would really call me that! thanks for the info gang, i was hoping the situation would be more along the lines of what neotransotaku was mentioning about it being theoretically possible, but then again, so is time travel

"Time travel? How're we gunna do that? does it hurt? I don't wana do it if it hurts or it makes you get all sticky."

Super Mario Bros. definently. We can all beat that sucker in less than seven minutes. but only because we've memorized the hell out of it.You know what's crazy? you all might know this already, but somewhere on the net is a video of SMB3 being beaten in eleven minutes ( I think)! What's even more amazing is the insanity this player goes through. Some levels mario barely touches the ground. sure, the dude was probably using an emu with a quick save/load feature, but even tapping save buttons during gameplay can be a daunting task.

In Donkey Kong, DK jr, Mario Bros., Pinball, SMB2, and most of SMB3, Mario's outfit is distinctly blue and red. so why the brown and red of suit SMB1? any takers on this?

why not? wasn't mario red and blue in his previous and slightly cruder incarnations?

You Boobs! (hehe, i said boobs)
I didn't mean to start this whole time travel/speed of dark query. Admittedly it is cooler than the original thread. But here we are anyway. Yeah, i have to disagree with the speed of dark, unless you take into account the void that light leaves behind as the seed of dark, in which case would be the same top speed as light.

Does anybody remember in physics something about photons or the like arriving just before light a la dolphins swmming in front of the swell of water a larg ship creates?

Kuru Kuru Kururin saw a European release, but not the second game.

Basicly, you controll a rotating stick trough mazes and avoid hitting / touching the walls.

Spike that with good sound, nice graphics and in part 2 with more mazes and fun minigames.

I played both games for hours.

was kuru kuru kuruin anything like "irratating stick" for the PSX? I never played either game, but i think irratating stick was a game i kept picking up because of the title, but ultimatly not buying because of the game itself.

I agree, most people here are nice (save for the few with their panties in a wad). My first post on the newbie forum of VGDC was responded with "that's great assface, nobody like's you".

I thought it was funny at first, but soon learned that most people there were rude and saracastic about everything. no fun really.

There is just something about playing the originals with their dated graphics that kicks so much ass. I prefer SMB1 on the NES to it's all-star brother. I'm also trying to find the nes version of the lost level, but no luck so far. but i don't mind the SMB3 update so much. I guess since SMB3 looked so much like it was supposed to be a SNES game in the first place, the newer 16-bits only seemed natural.

Does anybody own the Super joy stick?

it's a fairly recent N64 shaped controller that you hook up to the tv and play a grip load of classic NES/ARCADE games. except some are just graphic hacks other games. the second controller is shaped like the Sega Genesis game pad. it also comes with a light gun to play duck hunt with.

my main question really is if one can use it with a NES cart? there seems to be a slot on the bottom of controller one for it. But it's been ages since i owned a NES cart.

Found a link to a webpage:

http://buypegasus.com/super_joy_iii_game_system_with_over_100_games_2_controllers_and_pistol.html

It says nothing about the fake slot being of use, but it is near the size of a normal NES cart.

You won't find the Lostlevels for the NES, it was never released.

You'll have to get a Famicom and a Famicom Disk System and the Super Mario Bros. 2 Disk to be able to play the original release.

Well, then there has to be a rom of SMB2J out there right? RIGHT!? o god

As I have stated in the Newbie forum, I don't know jack about rom hacking. the closest thing I get to coding is html and Flash MX.

How would you all go about changing the NSF files around, and even yanking them from other games? explain in either professional or laymen terms if you like.
